The Little Dottie (previously Little Yew Lodge)

Description

Escape to a unique gem nestled in the forest overlooking the Sandy River, perfect for a romantic getaway. The space Built by two Alaskan prospectors in the 1920s, the main cabin is the only cordwood cabin on Mt. Hood. This construction uses log slices in its walls, giving The Little Dottie its endearing polka dot exterior. Rough-hewn timber beams maintain its historical allure, while the décor is updated with a vintage/modern feel. After you're done playing on the mountain, enjoy drinks on the deck overlooking the Sandy river, surrounded by 100-year old Doug Fir, Cedar (and Yew!) trees and the sound of rushing water. Once inside, you’ll want to cozy up on the Chesterfield in front of the original fireplace, assembled by hand with local river rock. Complete the mood by playing a record from a collection featuring everything from jazz and classical to 80’s and afrobeat. The armoire houses games from Jenga to Settlers of Catan. A brand new bathroom with a soaking tub is just off the dining area. Climb the rustic wooden staircase to the loft where you’ll find books, an HD DVD player, movies, and a flat screen TV streaming movies, news, sports, etc. via Roku. A queen bed serves for sleeping or just more area on which to lounge. The second bedroom is in the newer side cottage with its own bathroom decked out in Pratt and Larson tile, coffee bench and entrance. The door opens up to a deck overlooking the river where you can hear the rushing river while laying in bed. Guest access Our minimum stay is two nights, though we accept one night stays if surrounding nights are booked or if it’s within 7 days of arrival. All towels and linens provided. The kitchen has All-Clad pots and pans, spices/sugar, and extras such as the: fondue pot, crockpot, onion soup bowls, roasting pan, bakeware, and more. Coffee lovers can start your day using the espresso machine, french press or classic drip. Complimentary coffee beans, cocoa, and a selection of teas are provided. Other things to note Dogs are welcomed with a $25 nightly fee per a dog - capped at $50. Firewood is provided. Down-alternative bedding is available for guests with allergies. Smoke/carbon monoxide alarms are installed in both buildings. A fire extinguisher is located next to the fireplace. Please be aware that this cabin is on a gravel road, in a forest, on a mountain. With weather for all seasons a SUV might be the best mode of transportation however typically a sedan handles it just fine. Also, please note that with the age (100 years) and location of the cabin ( in the forest on a mountain), some insects make their way inside. We try our hardest to keep them out.
