The space Stay Where History Meets Mountain Serenity Barney Views Cottage offers more than a peaceful escape; it offers the rare opportunity to stay within a piece of local history. Over 100 years ago, this building was the original Barney View School, serving the district from 1918 until 1962 before becoming a private residence. A plaque stands proudly in the school's honour on the property, a quiet reminder of the generations of children who once learned here. Today, that rich heritage gives the cottage a character and soul that cannot be replicated. Now thoughtfully restored, the cosy two-bedroom cottage is fully self-contained and designed for comfort. The country kitchen is beautifully equipped with a six-burner gas stove, double oven, full-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine, and microwave. The main bedroom features a king-size bed, while the second bedroom offers a double bed. Both rooms are newly renovated and dressed in luxurious Sheridan bedding to ensure a restful night’s sleep. A brand-new laundry with a washing machine and dryer adds modern convenience to your stay. In cooler months, warm yourself by the indoor woodfire. Step outside onto the veranda and property surrounds to take in breathtaking views of Mt Barney, Mt Maroon, and Mt Lindsay, along with rolling hills, and farming land that complete the country charm. Set on 1.6 acres of lush gardens, the property invites you to truly slow down. Enjoy multiple outdoor fire pits, a BBQ, tranquil garden spaces, and abundant wildlife, including wallabies, koalas, and native birds. Our friendly resident guineafowl family add character and charm. Natural Rock Creek swimming is less than 10 minutes away for warm summer days. Located just 1.5 hours from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and under 15 minutes from Mt Barney National Park, the cottage is also within easy driving distance of Rathdowney, Boonah, Lake Maroon, and Queen Mary Falls. Barney Views Cottage is a truly special place, where mountain views, abundant wildlife, and a deeply rooted local history come together to create a retreat that feels both grounding and unforgettable. Guest access The cottage is very private, situated on 1.6 acres of gardens! You will have the property all to yourself during your stay! Please note that there is no access to the second bedroom for bookings of 1 or 2 guests. The second bedroom is unlocked for bookings of more than 2 guests. Additionally, as there is no charge for an infant, guests will only have access to the main bedroom when an infant is selected as a guest. If guests would like access to the second bedroom for an infant, their will be an additional charge equivalent to an extra adult guest, as preparation and cleaning of the second bedroom attracts additional cleaning fees for the host. Other things to note Barney Views Cottage has a long history which is part of what makes it so special. From 1918 to 1962, before being transformed into a private residence, the cottage was the original school of Barney View. Barney Views Cottage holds endless little treasures! The cottage is nestled next to a small historic pine forest planted by the local schoolchildren.
