Milkweed Room at Wildsong eco-retreat
Description
Come rediscover your childlike wonder and fall in love with Nature again at the Wildsong Gaian Sanctuary. Make friends with the deers, beavers, gold finches, white pines, cattails, earthworms, ghost pipes, and countless other Beings, among woods, fields, wetlands, ponds, streams and trails. Then, relax completely in our gorgeous wood log cabin - listen to frog songs from the back porch, lounge around the fireplace, unwind in the sauna, and drift off to deep sleep enveloped by luxury bedding. The space We are privileged to be the stewards of Wildsong Gaian Sanctuary, 150 acres of this magical piece of Grandmother Earth. We are planting a regenerative food forest here, (re)learning how to thrive alongside *with* other beings of this land. Our intention with opening this property to guests is to facilitate others' journey of deeper connection with nature, which always lead us back to ourselves. The 8-bedroom log cabin is thoughtfully designed, and powered by geothermal and solar energy! Each bedroom is uniquely decorated, with luxury bedding for the best sleep you will get. Milkweed room, on the ground floor of the lodge, is located in the quietest corner of the house. The bedroom is furnished with a Queen bed and is the perfect space to deeply rest one's body and soul after a day of explorations and perhaps after a sauna session next door. Check out other rooms in the Lodge by clicking on my profile photo (Navlyn - host) and scrolling down to "Navlyn's Listings", or visiting our website (we are a "dot org") This is the first time we are offering the chance to rent individual rooms on the property, so we don't yet have many reviews. You can find raving reviews from past guests who have rented the entire house, also under the host profile. The common spaces include an open layout great room with a large fireplace and soaring cathedral ceilings, a back deck with breathtaking views of the sunset over the beaver pond, and a cozy sauna to unwind the body-mind after a day of exploring. Guests are welcome to use the large and well stocked kitchen and outdoor grill to prepare meals, or dine out at one of the many delicious restaurants nearby. For explorers, this is a dream. The extensive private hiking trails on this 150 acre piece of Earth showcases the many facets of the environment in upstate New York. As you ramble along the extensive hiking trails, a series of diverse micro-environments unfolds: from beaver pond, to pine forest, to babbling stream, into the marsh, or back out into fields of wild strawberries, rock cliffs, and maple and beech forest. The grounds are teeming with wildlife. We share the space with deer, turkey, beaver, geese, wild ducks, hummingbirds, monarch butterflies, bees, owls, red-tail hawks and bald eagles - all common sightings in the usual seasons. Our more shy neighbors include coyote, black bear, river otter, and blue heron. Some often under-appreciated beings you might encounter are wasps, black flies and field mice (though I personally love the cute little field mice). Nature is diverse. We accept the ones we like as well as the ones we like less. Guest access Guests have access to their private rooms and all the public spaces in the house, including the great room, patio, sauna, kitchen, grill deck, and dining areas. All 150 acres of magical land and trails are also open to the guests to explore! During your stay Hosts are available to check you into your room, and to offer advise on local dining and activity options. On weekends, we offer a full set of activities onsite that are optional for guests - Breakfasts (at an additional cost) - Morning movement practices (a blend of yoga, qigong, and dance) - Guide farm tour of our permaculture food forest - Guided forest-bathing walks amongst the wilderness on the property
