Description

This historic, beautiful house sits right on the river Ouse with amazing views out all the windows. With 2 gardens for your use, the main one is right on the riverbank. The site is home to the last bottle shaped kiln in the country, built around 1817. This flat is in the loft space and is professionally clean before each guest. With nearby walking routes, the beautiful town of Lewes close as well as Brighton a short drive away. There are also at least 14 castles with about an hours drive! The space The building is divided into 3 flats, this "top flat" is in the buildings loft space. It has a master bedroom with double bed and a smaller bedroom with a two single beds as well as a double sofa bed in the living room. There is a road nearby so earbuds are provided for guests that like to hear absolutely no noise at night. It also has a galley kitchen with an electric cooker and fridge. There are amazing views from most of the windows in the flat. All rooms in the flat are on the same floor but there are steps leading from the top garden into the flat. Guest access Children and pets should be supervised at all times when in the garden. The riverbank is part of the garden boundary with no fence. There is a designated parking area. The main garden and top garden and accessible for all guests to use. There is strictly no access into the Kiln or any outhouses on the property. You can walk up to, around and see inside the kiln. The kiln is a historical landmark - strictly no climbing on the kiln. There is a dedicated barbecue area, at the end of the garden right on the river (surrounded by bushes!). No fires or BBQ's elsewhere in the garden. Other things to note Piddinghoe was once at the heart of Sussex Smuggling. It is also famous for having the only remaining bottle-shaped brick kiln in the country. Piddinghoe church is one of three in the Ouse Valley with a round Norman tower. Piddinghoe is popular with yachting enthusiasts who come to sail on the large stretch of water by the village. Information about the kiln can be found by searching the internet for "Old Brick Kiln Piddinghoe". The beautiful town of Lewes is 10 minutes drive away. Lewes has won multiple awards and was voted the "prettiest towns in the UK" by the Telegraph at the end of 2023. There are so many nearby attractions, including Paradise Park, Saltdean Beach and Firle Place and has many castles within an hours drive.
