Home in Brenz

Our place is a more than 200-year-old thatched roof house with large garden. It is very cozy, has a lot of atmosphere and lives from a lot of character. Embedded in a lot of nature, with many extensive meadows and forests, it is very well connected in a small Mecklenburg village. It is great for anyone who wants to relax for a few days and is looking for something special. There are many possibilities here, especially for families. The space The house has four bedrooms (one of which is a children's room), a bathroom and a large, bright living-dining area with an inviting sofa, a rustic table and an open kitchen. The children's room has a single bed (90 x 200 cm), one bedroom has a queen size bed (140 cm), another has a standard double bed (180 x 200 cm) and the fourth has a family bed (280 x 200 cm), where you can even find good rest for four. There is another permanently occupied apartment in the house. A terrace/porch leads to a large, winding garden, with trampoline, tree house, sandbox, seating, deck chairs, barbecue and hammocks. The house also has a field where you can go exploring... This is always exciting, especially for the children. The garden is more natural and wild than provided with English lawn. There is also a lot to discover here: in summer and autumn you can pick currants, cherries, mirabelles, apples, pears, walnuts and plums if you feel like it. If you are lucky, you can see the neighboring storks flying over the roof lying in the hammock or often a swarm of wild geese. In the fire bowl, we like to make bread on a stick in the evening under the stars. The house is old, rustic and full of character. Some things are idiosyncratically constructed or grown. In addition, the house is located in the countryside: you sometimes encounter a spider or mosquitoes, in the roof we once had an owl or a raccoon sighting and in winter a mouse sometimes scurries through the apartment. Unfortunately, this cannot be avoided with this type of accommodation. For us and many guests, all this is exactly the charm. Those who need underfloor heating will probably be happier elsewhere. The surroundings We are located in the middle of the wonderful, protected natural landscape of Lewitz. There are very large meadows, lakes and nature reserves here. You can hike and cycle wonderfully (these would have to be brought or borrowed – unfortunately we do not have bikes on site). Our handcart may be used for walks with tired children. About 5 km away there is a great swimming lake for the whole family. In Ludwigslust, the "Versailles of the North," you will find a beautiful classicist castle with a very aesthetically landscaped castle garden with old trees, lakes, brasserie and castle café next to the really worth seeing old town. In nearby Neustadt-Glewe, one of the oldest medieval small towns in Mecklenburg, there is a very well-preserved castle, restaurants and all the necessary shops. The location Via the nearby A24, we are very well connected to both Berlin (1:45 hours) and Hamburg (just over 1 hour). In Ludwigslust (15 minutes away) there is even an ICE train station. Excursions to beautiful Schwerin (half an hour), Wismar (45 minutes) or the Baltic Sea (Poel Island 1 hour) are possible and absolutely recommended.
