Other things to note Dear guest, my house is located in Rossatz. Rossatz lies on the right bank of the Danube, in the middle of the Wachau. Surrounded by vineyards, with a wonderful view of the other side of the Danube. Here you are on the quiet side of the Wachau, away from the hustle and bustle and mass tourism. After a walk through the Dunkelstein forest or a bike ride through the Wachau, you can treat yourself to a delicious snack and a good glass of Grüner Veltliner at a wine tavern. With the ferries from Rossatzbach to Dürnstein (approx. 1 km from the house), from St. Lorenz to Weißenkirchen (approx. 3 km from the house) or from Oberarnsdorf to Spitz (approx. 8 km from the house), as well as over the Danube bridge from Mautern to Krems (approx. 7 km from the house), you can easily reach the other side of the Danube, even by bike. At the western entrance to the Wachau, also on the right bank of the Danube, is the world-famous baroque Melk Abbey (distance from Rossatz to Melk approx. 27 km). And at the other end of the Wachau, 15.7 km south-east of Rossatz, on a hill, you can see (and of course visit) the Benedictine Abbey of Göttweig. As you can see, many hiking trails and cycle paths lead you through the Wachau and the Dunkelstein Forest to wonderful places and locations. Hiking trails also lead from Rossatz along the World Heritage Trail and parts of the Way of St. James through the Dunkelstein Forest to Maria Langegg and the Aggstein castle ruins. Tasting a glass or two of top-quality wine at the local vintners and wine taverns and perhaps taking a few bottles home with you is a real pleasure. If you crave some city action, you can also reach Vienna by train or with your own car in only an hour. Or explore the Waldviertel and the Weinviertel up to the Czech border - a beautiful and eventful day trip. more tips for trips: Wachau train to Emmersdorf - Melk Baroque Abbey - Danube boat trip through the Wachau! Solstice in the Wachau, a special experience with fantastic fireworks at the Dürnstein ruins and on the banks of the Danube at the campsite. The whole valley is particularly good to see from the mountainside panorama trail above Rossatz! Unfortunately, there is only one small grocery store in the village with very limited opening hours (and completely closed on Sundays). It is therefore advisable to take something with you for your breakfast when you arrive the day before, especially if you are traveling by bike or public transport. As the next major shopping opportunity is only in Mautern (approx. 7 km). However, there are options for a snack in the afternoon and also for dinner (there are several wine taverns and restaurants in the area within walking distance). There is no ATM directly in the village (next ATM in Mautern (approx. 7 km).
