Private Lakefront Retreat

Relax and enjoy the peaceful natural surrounding with the whole family at this lakefront home. Located on Kawagama Lake, the cottage is secluded and private, sitting on 5 acres of land. The large dock and shallow water entry is sure to please the entire family. Paddleboard, paddleboat, canoe and kayak are made available to guests (lifejackets too). The home is fully furnished with TV, books and games for indoor days. If you plan to bring your boat, a public boat launch is about 2 km away. The space The property is large and very private. it's located on a remote part of Kawagama Lake and as a result boat traffic is quite minimal. Kawagama is a large lake. In the fall, the colours are simply incredible. Located right on many snowmobile trails for sledders in winter, though the road is not appropriate for sled trailers. Contact the host (also an avid sledder) for details. No neighbour's to speak of. Host lives next door (but that is 5 acres away). The dock is large enough to tie any boat under 25' to. Public boat launch is about 2 km away. Boats can also be rented at either of the 2 marinas on the lake (Mountain Trout House or Old Mill Marina) The nearest town is Dorset which has a grocery store, restaurants, LCBO, hardware store, and a new cannabis shop. The drive to town is about 35 minutes each way, so plan accordingly. The large deck at the front of the cottage is highly elevated. There are appropriate railings, but it is very elevated. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need. There is large pantry to keep supplies in and out of the way. The home is equipped with a generator in the case of a power outage. The two queen mattresses are brand new. The mattresses in the bunkroom also recently replaced. wifi is high speed, but at times when streaming Netflix or other shows it may cut out and require a re-start (we have been unable to identify the problem) The walk to the water is approximately 50 short person walking steps from the stairs to the deck (about 15 stairs). While not a steep incline, the cottage is elevated. A shed located by the dock has a fridge for snacks and drinks so you can spend the day at the dock. There are 2 firepits. Wood for campfires is not provided but there is lots of brush around. Fires are prohibited if there is a fire ban in effect. The municipality issues fire bans in extremely dry conditions. Host will advise you if this is the case. Host that lives next door has 2 small dogs that may wander over during your visit. If this is an issue for potential guests, host will prevent them from visiting upon guest request. An additional note on the cottage. My parents bought the property of 22+ acres over 50 years ago. They subdivided it allowing my brother and I to build homes on each side (but over 5 acres away). This rental is the original cottage that was built by our family when we had no road or hydro. Everything came over by barge. We hand dug the basement and moved the dirt to the septic bed. There is a bunkhouse as well that we lived in while building the cottage. This can also be rented but is basic and has no running water. The long term plan is for our daughters to take it over, but until that happens we rent it out. ALL money made through the rental goes back into the cottage. Guest access The entire home , dock are property are yours to use. Other things to note 2 night minimum stay except for long weekends in from May long weekend through to and including Thanksgiving. Minimum 3 night stay over these weekends. The house comes fully equipped with the following - fully equipped kitchen with everything needed - cleaners - dyson vacuum, broom, mop - laundry detergent - plastic wrap, aluminum foil, parchment paper etc - dishwasher soap - spices -oil - sugar and flour (limited) - toilet paper - paper towels - all linens - bath towels - Beach towels - Coffee filters (not coffee) - dog dish - shampoo and conditioner - hand and body soap - paper napkins - garbage bags water is supplied through a drilled well and is very safe to drink Ice cube trays (4) are included but if you use alot of ice you may wish to bring more we do not have a sound system. you may wish to bring your own Bluetooth speaker.
