The space Blue Bird Farm: A Charming Colonial and Modernized Farmhouse Outside of Rhinebeck Welcome to our spacious, fully renovated 18th-century colonial timber-frame farmhouse, a perfect retreat just minutes away from the charming village of Rhinebeck. Built in the mid-1700s, this timeless home seamlessly combines historic charm with modern amenities, featuring exquisite old American chestnut exposed beams that add character and warmth throughout the house. Main Floor Comfort and Convenience The main floor boasts a high-ceiling private master bedroom suite complete with a full bathroom, soaking tub, and walk-in closet. Next to the master suite is an office space with two separate desks and workstations, perfect for remote work. Relax on the loveseat and ottoman, play the baby grand Steinway piano, or enjoy the warmth of the Jotul fireplace stove. The living room features a large-screen TV connected to an Apple TV and a DVD player, window seats for curling up with a book, and a Lopi fireplace insert. Stay in shape with our elliptical machine, conveniently set up in front of the Roku TV with surround sound. The covered front porch offers a space for yoga, meditation, or simply enjoying nature on the porch swing or rocking chair. Upstairs Serenity The upper floor features two beautifully appointed carpeted bedrooms, each with closets and dressers, and a full bathroom with a shower. The southeast bedroom includes its own workstation and desk. Both rooms offer comfort and tranquility, enhanced by the historic charm of exposed beams and brick fireplaces. Gourmet Kitchen and Dining On the lower level, which opens to the backyard patio and garden, you'll find our spacious, fully equipped gourmet kitchen. It's a culinary enthusiast's dream with modern appliances, including a KitchenAid mixer, Cuisinart food processor, Nespresso machine, and ample counter space. A mini wine-cooling fridge is also available. The kitchen is situated between two dining areas: a large dining room with a wood-burning stove and a table seating eight, and a well-lit breakfast nook perfect for intimate gatherings. The breakfast nook opens directly to the stone patio with outdoor dining and seating, ideal for enjoying meals or lounging in the sun. Cozy Living Spaces With three wood-burning stoves throughout the house, warmth and coziness are guaranteed in every corner. Multiple niches invite you to curl up with a good book or simply relax. The house also features a multiple-speaker Sonos sound system for your listening enjoyment. Outdoor Oasis The spacious yard includes a front covered porch and a back stone patio overlooking an expansive backyard and meadow. This serene outdoor space is home to several native birds, including bluebirds that nest in bird boxes. The large backyard provides ample space for outdoor games like badminton or volleyball. Gardens and Recreation Our fenced-in garden and orchard offers seasonal tomatoes, berries, apples and pears, and various herbs. The renovated and insulated barn adjacent to the house adds an extra dimension of fun and relaxation with a ping-pong table, darts, corn hole, a TV with Wii Nintendo, and a DVD player, making it an ideal rec space for kids and adults alike. Guests staying for at least 30 days can enjoy lake access at the neighborhood dock of picturesque Round Lake, perfect for summertime swimming. Peaceful Country Setting Situated on a quiet country road, this home allows you to enjoy the soothing sounds of nature while being just a 10-minute drive from the Taconic Parkway and major shops in Kingston. Rhinebeck is centrally located and near Hudson Valley attractions, including Bard, Vassar, and Marist Colleges, SUNY New Paltz, Woodstock, antiquing in Hudson, hiking in nearby state parks in the Catskill Mountains, boating on the Hudson River, culinary delights at Rhinebeck restaurants and the Culinary Institute of America, the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, and cultural sites like Olana and Dia. Some beams only provide a 7-foot clearance, which may be limiting for very tall guests. **Note for Game Room The barn and game room will be winterized November - April. While there is no heat and running water/bathroom available during this time, the barn is fully insulated and will be warmer than the cold outdoors. Guest access Guests will enjoy full use of the house as described. The renovated barn is just next to the house and offers a great game and rec space. Please note that the barn/game room is winterized November - April. For long-term summer bookings, please contact Sarah if you would like to enjoy access to Round Lake and the neighborhood dock. Other things to note Long-term guests may enjoy lake access via the neighborhood dock managed by the Home Owner Association. Please contact Sarah for questions about this special feature of our property. Guests must sign a waiver before being shown the communal dock. Guests using the lake agree to the terms and policies set by the owner and assume all responsibility for using the dock and lake. Considering this property has outdoor amenities, including swimming, guests agree to use them at their own risk. The owner is not liable for any accidents or injuries that may occur. The renovated Barn/playroom is located just next to the house. It is winterized November - April and will have no extra heat or running water/bathroom. **Note for Very Tall Guests Because this is an old colonial home with exposed beams and a kitchen and dining area on the lower levels, guests taller than 6'4" may find some spaces less comfortable.
