The cottages, suites, houses and laundry are equipped with solar power systems, complemented by electric water heating, dispensing with air conditioning due to the cool climate. The food is based on organic products, produced at the inn itself or by neighboring families, including honey, nuts, pine nuts, free-range chickens and eggs, as well as vegetables, greens, fruits and spices. Complementary foods such as milk, cheese and mushrooms are served fresh, usually harvested the same day. The simple kitchen can cater to sophisticated requests with regional dishes. The irrigation system uses water from the lake for emergencies and irrigation of gardens and pastures. Organic waste composting is done with California earthworms, turning debris into organic fertilizer for the orchard, vegetable garden and gardens. Ecological cesspools are self-sufficient, recovering water without environmental damage. The external lighting is automated with photoelectric cells and presence sensors. Pruning materials and branches are used as firewood for fireplaces and saunas. The guesthouse offers free dental and discounted medical care for employees and family members. Standards include avoiding packaging waste, using energy-saving light bulbs, rechargeable flashlights, and the water wheel when possible. Used clothing and objects are donated to employees or the local shelter.
