Beach House Get Away
Description
Enjoy the best of Cornwall while staying in our detached family home in the friendly village of Portreath. We've an idyllic position on a very quiet street with sea views and great neighbours. We're surround by nature, wonderfully calm but just minutes walk from all local amenities. 500 meters from Portreath beach and 100 meters from beautiful woodland walks. During the summer we're one of the first and last homes in the village to bathe in the sunlight, enjoying all day sun (see pics). The space Warwick House has parking for 3 cars when using the drive and dedicated space in front. Coming in through the front door there's an entrance porch with space for coats and shoes. There's a short corridor, the door on your right is to the 3rd reception room/study/yoga or 4th bedroom (sofa bed) and there's a door on your left to the main lounge with wood burner. After the main lounge there's another entranceway with a door outside to the courtyard on your left and stairs to your right. The door ahead goes to the playroom, the playroom (note the rocking horse pictured has been replaced by a drum kit and games station) leads on to the kitchen diner. From the kitchen there's a door outside to the rear of the property and another to the utility room and downstairs shower room. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom with a super king size bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and period 3 door wardrobe with shelving and drawers. One with a double bed and single bed above it (bunk bed style), drawers and shelving. Another with 2 single beds (bunk beds), wardrobe and shelving. All bedrooms have window seats and pleasant aspects. It's a beautiful period cottage, the kitchen diner, utility, shower room and garage are a modern extension but the rest of the property is close to 200 years old. All rooms other than the kitchen and bathrooms have window seats and the walls are exceptionally thick, helping to keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It's a period cottage and a few of the doorways require ducking slightly if around the 6' mark. The lowest doorway measures 5'9''. Fortunately 3 of these are together just as you come in so easy to remember and to see. The 4th is to the bedroom with the 2 single bunk beds. The same height restriction applies between the playroom and kitchen dinner but this is clear to see. There have been no injuries to date and no other height restrictions to note inside or out. In the courtyard by the side door is a woodshed with plenty of wood stocked for fires. When cool it's great to light the fire in the lounge and on a nice evening it's nice to light the fire pit in the garden. Enjoy. We have lots of lovely areas to enjoy outside. We often picnic and hangout in the front garden, we've sea views and it's a peaceful street. The road is generally only used by people who live in the street and our kids have safely learnt to walk and to ride their bikes in it. The courtyard by the side door can be a real sun trap and has a small table and chairs. The rear garden gets the sun all day in the summer and is a great place to relax. There's a swinging sofa, L-shaped seating and a table and benches for 6 to dine. There's a BBQ and fire pit and access to our small woodland area. We've added a large new trampoline behind on a new tier behind above the garden in the photographs. We own up to the top of the valley, it's wild with a path cut through, some swings and space to explore. At night we hear the owls and the ocean and in the day the birds chorus. Guest access Everywhere except the garage. We have to put our stuff somewhere ;) Other things to note This is our family home, we absolutely love it and could not dream of being anywhere else. It is not a single purpose Air BnB rental as is lived in all year. When we rent our home we remove everything from the bedroom cupboards/drawers, take down photos, box up the majority of the contents, change all bedding and towels, clean and prepare everything to the highest standard. It is a family home so expect to find some kids drawing here or there but also fab toys and things to use and play with. If you're looking for a perfectly polished finish, thank you for your consideration but this is not the home for you. Kids can explore and have fun, adults can try being kids and do the same or just unwind while the kids explore. We've great outdoor spaces, and even our own mini forest. Opposite the house is another fun area with good trees for climbing. Without crossing a road you're at the village shop, bakery, cafe and hair salon. Cross one road and you're at the play park and all weather football pitch. There's a lot of fun to be hand in the woodlands either end of our road, both with streams running through them, great mountain biking and often rope swings. Walking directly up from our house (approximately 5 minutes) there's Gwel an Mor, with swimming pool, golf course, petting zoo, spa and soft play. Continue walking and you arrive at Tehidy Country Park, the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall. There's some brilliant mountain biking and great walks to be had and well maintained paths for all the family. If you like bike riding you can take the coast to coast cycle route that goes from Portreath to Devoran on the south coast. If you enjoy walking there are some ideal circular walks of varying durations from the house. Easily pick up the coastal path for fantastic walks with stunning scenery in both directions. The beach is wonderful! Walk from the house with the wetsuits, surfboards and beach items we've provided and enjoy. The beach transforms depending on the height of the tide. There are caves to explore and a natural swimming pool left in the rocks at low tide. At low tide another beach opens up also and you can walk through a cave to get to it. As the tide gets higher the surf gets better there's still plenty of beach. At high tide the harbour is a lot of fun too and opens up a variety of jumping/diving opportunities. Parts of the harbour are also great for fishing. As well as surfboards, I'll also leave our surfski and paddle incase you fancy giving that a go. We've great restaurants/pubs in the village, a popular Chinese takeaway and pop up takeaways often at the Portreath Arms. There's often live music and bouncy castles for the kids. You don't need to drive anywhere but if you choose to we're brilliantly located for exploring the best of Cornwall. We provide our guests with a helpful insiders guide to the area full of ideas and suggestions for your stay. Our home comfortably accommodates up to 6, it's brilliantly diverse and emanates cozy cottage vibes so is great for couples too. Note regarding the photos: both bathroom photos and the utility room were taken using 0.5 wide angle as were tricky to capture the rest are standard. The majority of toys and personal items will have been removed.
