Escape & reconnect with nature in the charming cottage near Dillon Lake. Unwind on the furnished patio to enjoy the flittering birds and evening sunsets. Sit around the fire pit and gaze at the stars. Bike, hike, and kayak at Dillon State Park or Blackhand Gorge. A short drive to many local restaurants, wineries, and breweries. The house is in close proximity to Newark, Zanesville, Columbus, and Amish country. Furniture and decor varies occasionally due to updates. The space Nestled in the woods at the end of a quiet gravel road, our home is ready for guests to enjoy a serene and peaceful setting for their visit. The morning sun shines into the kitchen, main floor bedroom and loft bedroom. Throughout the day the birds flitter about, the whitetail deer walk by, the squirrels rustle some nuts, and the bees are out working. As the evening winds down, the setting sun shines onto our front deck and into the living room, dining room, and upstairs bedroom. Guests can use the table and chairs on the deck to enjoy the scenery. Our pavilion area has ample space for any group of guests that choose to stay. The pavilion has an outdoor sectional and chairs along with a dining table that seats six. Hanging lights provide a nice glow when the sun goes down. Four Adirondack chairs around the fire pit are perfect for enjoying the crackling embers. A small fire can be made in the stainless steel firepit. Our pavilion is accessible with a short walk down a small slope from the driveway. When the darkness settles in the coyotes can be heard howling around the neighboring farms and woodlands. Guests can use our property as their base camp for their central Ohio plans. The house neighbors all the amenities that Dillon State Park has to offer. Within 5 minutes, guests can be at most of Dillon’s activities such as the hiking trails, mountain biking trails, bridle trails, beach area with playground, and courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, the lake for boating, kayaking, and fishing, the dam area with playground, disc golf, archery, and sled hill on snowy days. Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve is located about 10 minutes away from the house. The beautiful scenery of the nature preserve can be viewed from the 4 mile paved bike and walking trail, 6 miles of unpaved hiking trails, kayaking through on the Licking River, or fishing from the north shore. Other guest favorites include visiting The Wilds for tours of free range wildlife viewing and mountain biking. Our 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home has 1,160 square feet of space that has a full kitchen and laundry room with washer and dryer. The living room consists of a couch and loveseat to enjoy time with family and friends. Guests can use the Smart TV to log in to their streaming services and pick up where they left off of their favorite shows. The living room flows past the decorative fireplace and into the dining room. Our six person dining room table is perfect for any size meal the guests would like to make. Our kitchen is stocked with the utensils and cookware needed to prepare any meal. Our cabinets are stocked with the following cookware: two pots, three different sized skillets, one cast iron skillet, baking pans, a pizza pan, cutting board, a toaster, coffee pot, and 7-10 of each bowls, plates, glasses, and mugs. Condiments provided are salt, black pepper, powdered coffee creamer and sweetener, coffee for 1-2 pots, and cooking oils. We provide a starter supply of kitchen essentials—including paper towels, dishwasher pods, and dish soap —for the beginning of each stay. The full size refrigerator is ready to store any amount of cold and frozen groceries until our guests cook them with the full size range or microwave. The main floor has one bedroom with a king size bed, walk-in closet, ceiling fan, full length mirror, black out curtains, charging stations at each night stand and Smart TV. The one bathroom for the house is located on the main floor as well. The bathroom has a full size bath tub with a shower. The bathroom has dimensions approximately 6’ x 6’. Guests are provided with towels, wash cloths, and make-up cloths for their stay. Hand soap is provided; guests should bring any personal toiletries they prefer. From the living room, guests can go upstairs to the two other bedrooms. At the top of the stairs, an open loft bedroom has two twin beds, a large closet with shelving, a ceiling fan, one charging station between the beds and full length mirror. One window provides natural light and the blackout curtains are nice for sleeping in. Also upstairs is a third bedroom with a full size bed, a closet for hanging clothes, full length mirror, a charging station on the nightstand, ceiling fan, futon, and exterior door with a full window to a small (2’x5’) balcony. The balcony is big enough to stand and enjoy the view, but not large enough for sitting in chairs. From the kitchen and one flight of stairs down, guests can find our laundry room. A full size dryer is stacked onto a full size washer. The provided laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and stain remover will accommodate guests staying for a short time. Guests can find an ironing board, iron, fan, and a stick vacuum in this area as well. Guests will use the electronic keypad to gain access through the front door. Guests can communicate with the host through the Airbnb messages, along with text or phone calls. There is a Ring camera at the front door for guests to communicate with the host as well. Getting to our property is only a few minutes from the state route. The roads are paved in our neighborhood until the last 1/8th of a mile which is a downhill gravel road. Guests can find our house at the end of the road. The gravel drive way is down into the parking areas. Our side Ring camera has a floodlight that will turn on when motion is detected to light up the three stairs onto the side deck. A side light illuminates the next two stairs to the front deck. At that point the front deck lights will help guests check in at night. For snowy days, our driveway is cleared and salted. It may be a challenge for 2WD vehicles to exit the neighborhood with inches of snow. Also, around the house on days with cold temperatures of 10 degrees Fahrenheit or less, guests may need an extra blanket to keep the chill off. On hot summer days of temperatures around 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the house is a little warmer in the late afternoon until the sun sets. The air conditioner tries to keep it cool, but the best it can do is about 75 degrees give or take a few degrees. Let me know if you have any questions about our home, property, and/or local area. Guests can use the non-wooded areas outside, which includes the pavilion area and firepit. The property down the hill is a public state park. Guests can venture into the state park. The wooded areas to the south are private property. We have two out buildings on our property that are off limits for guests. The basement is off limits for guests other than the laundry room.
