Description

750sq/ft 1BR apt (no share) in the heart of the historic Jackson Heights Garden District. Built in 1930, features period detail in the marble-floored, stucco-walled lobby, but also the fruits of then-current technology – elevators. The generously proportioned apartments in a central location just a block away from the lively commercial strip and close to multiple subway and bus lines. Historic charm and the diversity are unique even in a borough in which over 165 languages are spoken. The space I'm an adoptive New Yorker from Italy I have been in New York for now 30 years and I've been in the neighborhood now for 25 of those 30 and I still feel blessed. considering the radical transformation of so many other New York City neighborhoods I have noticed the changes in the neighborhood in a much more subtle way. that is probably thanks to the landmark Commission assigning Jackson Heights the historic district status. Fillmore Hall our building is run by an amazing Superintendent who's been in the building for decades, having been one of the porters before becoming Super. The Avenue where the building is , 35th Ave, is the route for one of the buses you can take to the 74th St mass transit hub by Roosevelt Ave, altho it is a less than ten minute walk. Right next door is St Joan of Arc catholic church and one avenue over, 37th Ave is Jackson Hts main thoroughfare, with dozens of shops, restaurants and bakeries. Over one avenue on the other side, north, 34th Ave has become a linear park for about twenty blocks, passing by Travers Park, a small public park recently given a complete overhaul and which is actually and unfortunately the only public park in Jackson Hts proper. The 34th Ave linear park was a project that divided many in the community, especially considering the inconvenience residents who lived on the avenue and drivers. Guest access Whole apartment
