Amisan Ssukti Accommodation offers a unique experience where guests can immerse themselves in Korean cuisine, woodworking, lodging, and natural surroundings all at once. *** All meals are provided during the stay. *** Guests have the option to participate in Korean cooking or woodworking experiences for an additional fee. *** Currently, only accommodation for two people is available (single or more than three guests are not accommodated). *** The space This is a separate building made using a traditional Korean ondol heating system and yellow clay, built in 2014. It consists of one spacious studio-style room and a bathroom, with an attic accessible via a ladder. Inside the room, there are basic water facilities and a table, while simple cooking utensils and laundry facilities are available in a separate designated area nearby. The room features large windows allowing ample sunlight while ensuring privacy. Guests will sleep on traditional Korean floor bedding (no separate mattresses or beds). *** Full meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided, and meal costs are all included in the accommodation fee. Meals mainly consist of Korean cuisine using homemade sauces, locally foraged herbs, and homegrown vegetables. Korean cooking class, 2. Pu're tea (보이차) ceremony class, and 3. Woodworking class (A separate payment of 30,000 won per person per activity is required for each experience). Nearby attractions include Sogrisan Mountain, Beopjusa Temple and Sejo-gil Trail, and Hwayang Valley (속리산, 법주사, 세조길, 화양계곡). Other things to note This place, which has been a village for over 600 years, is located deep in the mountainside of Sogrisan Mountain. It may be somewhat inconvenient for foreigners or city dwellers who are not accustomed to such remote areas. However, it is an excellent place to experience true Korean culture. My husband and I lived in the bustling city of Seoul for over 30 years before retiring to this rural area to learn traditional Korean fermentation techniques from my mother. My husband enjoys woodworking as a hobby and also teaches it to others. He used to work in Seoul, managing exports to Europe, the US, and other regions. After settling in the countryside, we pondered ways to reconnect with our foreign friends and decided to leverage our experience of frequently inviting them over to our home for Korean food. Thus, we proposed the idea of running an Airbnb, where we could share Korean cuisine with guests. I run a small business selling fermented products like soybean paste, soy sauce, and red pepper paste, which I've been doing for over a decade. I also conduct cooking classes using these products. We will introduce guests to new experiences in Korean cuisine using various local herbs, vegetables, and homemade Korean sauces. Moreover, as this is an old village, it still retains much of the spirit of traditional Korea.
