Casa El Guarumo sits at the top of our 4-acre permaculture farm, situated between Parque Internacional La Amistad and the town of San Vito, Coto Brus. Come to reset and unwind. Take in the beautiful mountain views, clean air, and pure water. Enjoy fresh fruit, coffee, and handcrafted chocolate from the farm. Adventure to nearby waterfalls and hot springs, hike the farm trails to the creek, or drift off in a hammock to the songs of the myriad of bird species that can be observed in our area. The space Welcome to the Holmestead! We are a small permaculture farm located 25 minutes outside of San Vito, Coto Brus. We are at 1000m elevation, so the weather and temperature is beautiful year round (no need for AC!) and perfect for growing almost anything! We specialize in the cultivation of organic cacao and coffee, but also grow many other tropical fruit trees and crops in our food forest, all of which our guests have access to! Casa El Guarumo is one of two houses on the farm, but retains total privacy. It has a large covered patio area, and a beautiful lawn and landscaped area in front of the house, perfect for outdoor activities. The garden is full of amazing tropical flowering plants, fruit trees, hardwoods, palms, and a huge Guarumo tree, all of which attract many beautiful birds and pollinators. The second home is located further down the hill, and is occupied by the farm caretaker and his family. They are very kind and knowledgeable about the area, and will be on the property should you need anything during your stay. Guest access The guests will have access to the house which consists of a living room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a common area with futon and pack-n-play, fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room with washer, one full bathroom, one half bathroom, and a large covered outdoor patio space with dining area. The guests will also have access to the gardens around the house, and to the entire 4-acre farm where we have over a kilometer of walking trails with benches, pond and creek access, a small forested area, and coffee plantation. Seasonal fresh fruit, vegetables, root crops, leafy greens, coffee, and eggs will be available to you during your stay! Fresh cheese and milk are also available from other farms in our area! Other things to note Our farm is located in a birding hotspot! If you love birds then you’ll be happy to know that there have been over 100 species recorded here! Although uncommon, encounters with venomous snakes and other wildlife on the property is always a possibility. Our wildlife camera set up by the creek has recently recorded lesser anteaters, armadillos, skunks, opossums, raccoons, coyotes, and an ocelot! Looking for something to do?
