The "LIFE ROOM" - King 2nd Floor Rockland Talbot House

We have named this the "LIFE ROOM" as it is decorated with covers of LIFE magazine from 1890s through 1920s - pretty cool!!! Enjoy your own private guest room and attached luxury bathroom that are both designed specifically to accommodate the needs of overnight guests. Your guestroom room is one of six guestrooms in our vacation rental B&B. You certainly have your own privacy but if you want to you can also enjoy the company of our other inn guests in one of our many common areas in the evening over a piece of pie, or in the morning for a homemade multi-course breakfast. Our property is in the residential historic district of Rockland and is a short walk to the downtown, harbor, museums, restaurants and shops but not on busy Route 1! Rockland is a hip and happening little community with a great art scene, amazing restaurants, a working harbor and an authentic feel. It truly is the real Maine. Your hosts live directly next door and are seasoned hospitality veterans and experts on the local area as we have called Rockland home for over 20 years. The space This newly renovated king room features a beautiful black iron king bed; a working fireplace, a desk area and a large sitting area with two overstuffed chairs. This sunlit room features 11 foot ceilings and five beautiful windows allowing an abundance of natural light. The custom window treatments include black-out panels. The room gives a modern twist to a Jacobean floral pattern with rich robust colors of orange, sage green and tan. As with all of our guest rooms, there is complimentary high-speed internet, air-conditioning, and lots of electrical outlets in convenient locations, a flat screen TV (smart TV) and bedside reading lights. The large private attached bath does has a vanity, ample storage and features a custom walk-in shower with multiple heads including a rain shower. As part of this bathroom is under the stairs it does have a funky angled ceiling over the toilet. Guest access Guests at the Rockland Talbot House are welcome to make themselves at home in the many common areas of this beautifully restored B&B inn. Areas include, the Grand Parlor with a common television, jigsaw puzzle, game area and comfy sitting area in front of the fireplace; Guest Pantry area; Sunroom; Dining Room; Side Porch and 2nd floor Library. The Guest Pantry area has a refrigerator, microwave, dishes, glasses and coffee maker for guest use. It is stocked with an assortment of teas, coffee, sodas, ice and water. It is available to guests 24 hours a day and the best part is you don’t have to do the dishes! This is also where you can find our homemade pie and ice cream to enjoy! The Rockland Talbot House offers private, off-street parking on the property for all of our guests. We value our guests’ safety. Each guest will be given their own keys to their individual guest suite and a personal remote access code to the outside doors. We have security cameras and keep all outside doors locked always for the privacy and safety of our guests. The property also has a full sprinkler system, and fire, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm systems that are monitored 24 hours a day. During your stay If it works with your schedule, we prefer to check in our guests personally between 4-6 pm so we can introduce you to your home away from home; provide you with maps and information on the area; help with any dinner or activity reservations and to make sure you know how to reach us for any assistance or for emergency coverage. Please let us know in advance if your travels will have you arriving to the property after 6pm. If we are not available to personally check you in, we can make arrangements for an easy self-check. With the self-check process, you will be emailed a code to the front door to gain entrance to the building and directed where to retrieve your room keys and directions to your room. We also provide lots of information about the area in your room for you. We use breakfast time as an opportunity to enjoy talking to our guests. We will gladly help you with directions, reservations for local activities, dinner reservations or with other questions you might have to help you make the most of your time in the Rockland area. During other times of the day (or night), our wonderful staff members are in and out of the property and the owners live directly next door and can be easily reached if you have any problems, concerns or questions. Emergency contact numbers are posted by all exit doors, by the house phone and in all the guest books in each room so you can easily reach us 24 hours a day. Other things to note When you compare properties please remember we include daily housekeeping, a homemade breakfast, coffee service and homemade pie and ice cream in our rates other than taxes there are no other add on fees. The building has been recently renovated. All our electric wiring and plumbing are new and up to code and we have put lots of outlets in each guest room; stairs and egresses are life-safety compliant; we have wide band high-speed internet access such that guests can stream their movies without interruption. In the event of any emergency the owners reside immediately next door.
