Nayalap - Himalayan Earth Homes

The last 7 years have been an incredible learning experience. Since we moved to the village, the priorities have changed. There was a sense of discovery in everything we did. There were chai-filled conversations with elders and young turks and stories on how homes and communities were built. It's these learnings that led us to build these earth homes. Kumaon has been a great teacher. And we hope we've done justice to her sustainable ways. The space About 45min from Almora, the Earth Home at Nayalap is placed on a hill with views opening out to the entire valley. It comprises a bedroom, a living room and a bathroom - each spacious and designed to laze around in. The cottage also have a small balcony to see the valleys from or to catch the sunset in the evening. The cottages are built using natural materials. Mud helps keep the cottages insulated from the outside heat and cold. The lime wash in the bathrooms have anti-bacterial properties. The cottage has 2 single beds that become a double bed in the bedroom and sofa cum bed for children or adults in the living room. The bathroom is furnished with soaps, shampoo, body lotion and bathrobes. The food served is proudly Kumaoni. Some of the meals would be Kumaoni while some are continental using Kumaoni ingredients. Breakfast is included in the price while lunches and dinners would cost Rs. 550 per person per meal. Guest access The entire cottage is available to the guests. Apart from this, they have access to the grounds outdoor and the indoor dining area/ lounge. Guests can also visit the small farm. But the main attractions are the walks and the picnics that the guests have access to.
