Guesthouse Ko-Rai-Gen Temple annex -enjoy a panoramic view of the temple from the balcony. The host, the buddhist monk, his wife, and two children, lives next door and can share local tips. We can speak English. Guests can enjoy Japanese temple life and relax at private guest house. Guests can select an OMAKASE Tour. Discover Nagahama with our optional “OMAKASE Tour,” designed to help you explore the best local spots. Enjoy the scenic beauty of a traditional Japanese countryside. The space A Tranquil Village Retreat Experience GuestHouse Ko-Rai-Gen Facility Overview •Our guesthouse is a private rental adjacent to a temple. The terrace offers a panoramic view of the temple. Guests are welcome to join the morning chanting at 7 AM. Enjoy a tranquil time in the serene main hall. •The guesthouse features a two-story Japanese-style room . The second floor includes a living room, bedroom, separate washbasin, and terrace (two beds, futon for the third guest). The first floor has parking, a toilet, and a shower room. While there is no bathtub, a local hot spring is a 4-minute bike ride away. •Three bicycles are available for rent (free of charge). •We provide traditional work clothes (samue) for guests to use as pajamas or during temple activities. Experience Options Morning Temple Activities •A private experience limited to one group per day. Enjoy a peaceful morning in the quiet main hall. Optional fee (including tax): Adults ¥2,000 per person (children under 11: ¥500 per person) The Morning Temple Activities include: 1. Morning Bell Ringing - Ring the large bell at the temple (6 AM in summer, 6:30 AM in winter). 2. Preparing Buddhist Offerings (rice shaped like a lotus flower). 3. Morning Chanting - Participate in the morning chanting in the temple’s main hall. 4. RiceBall Making and Breakfast - Prepare and eat a simple breakfast with the offered rice. 5. Temple Tour - A guided tour inside the temple with explanations of the Buddhist statues and temple interior by the resident monk and his wife. Optional OMAKASE Tour •Discover Nagahama’s best spots tailored to your preferences and schedule. Tour fee (including tax): ¥4,000 per person per hour. If interested, please contact us when booking. If you wish to participate in the Morning Temple Activities or the OMAKASE Tour, please let us know before check-in. Due to temple ceremonies, these options may not always be available, so we appreciate advance notice.
