Omar Khayyam was a renowned Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet, born in Nishapur in 1048. His surname, meaning "tent maker," reflects his father's profession. Khayyam gained fame as a scholar and was deeply interested in music and poetry. During the Seljuk period, he traveled to key science centers such as Merv, Bukhara, and Baghdad, gaining recognition from influential patrons, including Shams ul Mulk and Seljuk Sultan Meliksah.
