Description

Nestled in the heart of Sologne, Clos Souvigny is a longère from the 17th and 19th centuries, renovated with period materials and featuring a beautiful landscaped garden. This charming residence, located in one of the prettiest villages in Sologne, is the ideal place to recharge with family and friends, or to telecommute thanks to high-speed internet access. Experience the charm of the past and authenticity, allowing you to live a timeless experience. The space Dear Travelers, I am thrilled to open the doors of my country house to you, which I acquired 20 years ago and have fully renovated with period materials by the finest craftsmen. This is a typical Sologne longhouse, with half-timbering and wattle and daub from the 17th century, and brick for the part of the house that was reconstructed during the reign of Napoleon III. You will be enchanted by the authenticity of the place, with its interconnecting rooms paved with terracotta tiles, exposed beams, and lime-washed walls. The house features wattle-and-daub outbuildings and a landscaped garden (1,000 m²), complete with two verandas to enjoy the light in every season. A spacious house (205 m²), perfect for gathering with family and friends, while allowing everyone the option to have some privacy if they wish. It is also ideal for remote work, thanks to its recent fiber optic connection. The main house can accommodate six guests, and up to eight people can be accommodated by using the summer bedroom located in the garden—unless you request otherwise, this bedroom is closed from November to March. The highlights of this place include: > The tranquility and the authentic charm of the house, along with its beautifully landscaped garden designed by a local gardener. > Its central location, providing access to amenities that allow for a stay without needing a car: grocery store, bakery, and restaurant are all within a 3-minute walk. > Your pets are welcome here. > Free and high-speed Wi-Fi thanks to the fiber connection. > Proximity to culturally significant locations: 30 to 50 minutes from the castles of Chambord, Blois, Cheverny, Sully-sur-Loire, La Ferté Saint-Aubin, Meng-sur-Loire, and the exceptional Capazza Gallery in Nançay. > Lovely walking trails in the forest starting just 5 minutes from the house. Comfort upon your arrival: > Accessibility: Just 15 minutes from the Lamotte-Beuvron highway interchange and 15 minutes from the Federal Park/Centre Parcs. > Self-check-in, allowing you to arrive at your convenience. > Free parking available in front of the house. > Beds are made upon your arrival, with new bedding, duck down comforters, linen bed sheets, and towels provided for your use. > Your welcome kit includes: 2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 sponge, 1 dishwashing liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets, 2 tea towels, 2 garbage bags, 1 liquid hand soap, and 1 shower gel/shampoo (please keep the containers, we refill them). > Our Concierge service is available to answer your questions and guide you until 10 PM. Layout of the house: Ground Floor: > A large entrance, featuring a Vosges ceramic stove. An adjoining room serves as a cloakroom and includes a toilet. > A spacious study-library that opens up to the garden through a veranda. > The dining room, equipped with a stone fireplace, features a table that can accommodate ten guests. There are sideboards containing the necessary dishes to set a beautiful and welcoming table. > The living room, where the wattle and daub has been replaced with double glazing to let in light and enjoy views of the garden. It features a walnut fireplace, two new three-seater sofas, and chairs. This room is warm in winter and cool in summer. > The kitchen, typical of old Sologne houses, is slightly set back from the main rooms to reduce fire risks and offers a view of the garden. Its charm is highlighted by a sink sculpted by a local stonemason, oak kitchen furniture, and a Gaudin gas range with two built-in electric ovens. For practicality, it includes a microwave oven, Nespresso coffee maker, traditional electric coffee maker, refrigerator with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster, food processor, and a complete set of equipment to cook comfortably. First Floor > A very large and bright bedroom featuring a 140x190 cm bed, pichepin wood wardrobes, and an open bathroom with a vintage claw-foot bathtub and bidet, both discreetly hidden behind a screen. There is also a small desk area and a chair. > A second bedroom equipped with a 140x190 cm bed, a desk, a chair, and a storage area for your luggage. > Following that, in succession, is a third bedroom with two 90x200 cm beds and an armchair. > A shower room with a toilet follows, complemented by a dressing/storage area. In the Outbuildings, in the Middle of the Garden: > A very large bedroom featuring a 140x190 cm bed, equipped with an Italian-style shower and separate toilet, two radiators, and a wood stove—guaranteed to provide a change of scenery! > A laundry room that includes a washing machine and a dryer. > A woodshed that also houses the garbage bins. Behind these outbuildings is the second part of the garden (900 m²), featuring a veranda for reading sheltered from the rain, a grand magnolia tree for dining in the shade, and a pergola to provide a cozy spot for your naps. And all around, a carefully selected vegetation creates a colorful garden in every season, complemented by a view of the bell tower of the church in Souvigny. Note Bene: If you are (very) attached to the standards of a contemporary house or apartment, this country house may not be for you. The presence of antique terracotta tiles with a matte finish, a stone-sculpted sink, a vintage bathtub, and lime-washed walls may lead some to think that the house is not entirely clean. However, we place great importance on cleanliness, and our concierge team takes great care to ensure that the house is well-maintained.
