Description
A traditional Maltese home in the heart of the charming capital Victoria for a very unique stay on Gozo Island. A Rock 'n' Roll vibe, woven into the original historic atmosphere - experience the surprising synergy, and the rocking symphony! The ground-floor, family-friendly house has all modern amenities, together with the preserved character, and charme of a historic building. The property is in a peaceful residential street, right next the majestic Citadel. The space This stylishly finished home comprises 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a shower each, a living room with TV, a well-lit dining room, a sweet little fully-equipped kitchen, and a central courtyard separating the house, thus allowing the back bedroom+bathroom to form an extra unit - making the house perfect for two couples, friends, or families. There is a laundry room with a washing machine upstairs. On the roof terraces you can relax in the hammock, eat in a nice summer breeze in the shade, and enjoy a nice drink with Citadella view. Family- and artist-run holiday home, mindfully handpicked and lovingly designed to create spaces with a unique style that combines delicate, flowing, vintage features with rough, edgy, Rock, and industrial accents. The atmosphere seizes the refreshing clash, and the pleasant harmony between antique and modern, male and female, shiny chic and shabby chic, feathery soft and unbreakably hard. In the mission to contribute to celebrating the magical beauty of Gozo, we seek to cherish the traditional way of living on the island by keeping, and restoring original features, and furniture. What might be beyond the door, you can only guess when gazing at the enchanting entrance doors and balconies in all these tasteful, delicate colour palettes, elaborate ornamentations, and good amounts of genuine, mellow patina. Whereas most tourists are left with their imagination and guesswork while strolling through the historic centers, you get a chance to open that beautiful green door, have a look inside, and even better - call it your home during your stay on Gozo. :) Behind the walls (and in fact, the walls themselves) are indeed treasures that merit landmark status, and should in our opinion always be protected and preserved by heritage conservation. In all rooms you will find the historic Maltese stone flooring that was constructed in a 300-years-old, very complex pouring process, each tile individually handmade, to create lovely patterns in a big range of variety. High ceilings, and wooden beams make for a magnificent, majestic, yet cosy atmosphere. The warm-coloured sandstone is one of the most defining features of the Maltese Islands. With the oldest free-standing temples in the world, history was engraved in this stone, and of course it is the material the big slabs of our houses are constructed of. Paired with the abundance of sunshine, it really tints our lives here on the islands with a soft golden glow. Guest access Our house is a ground-floor, one-level house with all rooms for your private use. No stairs to be climbed for living spaces. (Washing machine and roof terraces upstairs!). Note: some door steps between rooms. There is an outdoor staircase in the courtyard leading to the laundry area, and to the roof, which is part of our private property, and nobody else will pass from there, so the courtyard is a safe space. All Gozo is very safe in general, as you will learn here. :) As an old tradition, a lot of people leave the keys to their cars in the ignition if they go into shops, for others to re-arrange the car if needed. Elderly folks often leave the key on the door of the house, so friends and family can enter. These habits demonstrate the natural serenity, and confidence in community on the island. For more peace of mind, an exterior security camera monitors the main entrance door (and only the door on the outside). Recording is connected to motion detection, and will be reviewed upon alarm only. Your privacy is important to us. I am viewing preview pictures upon alarm, but after check-in I will watch only footage that shows persons other than the booked guests near the door (whom I know from the check-in video), for your safety and the safety of our house. If the preview picture shows you going in and out I will not watch the videos. Except you need help entering, and tell me so in a message - then you can talk to me via the camera (it has audio). It's a family-friendly house, and I will adjust the spaces according to the age of your child/children. For babies/toddlers, providing high chair, travel cot, bedding, play area, toys, bath supplies, hood towels, nursing pillow, changing mat, toilet seat/potty is inclusive on request. Other things to note While the restoration aimed at facilitating all modern amenities, please keep in mind you are staying at an authentic piece of Maltese history, which asks for mindfulness, and a bit of patience with the antique elements. ;)
