Welcome to Swallows Loft, a stunning newly decorated studio in a beautifully crafted oak framed barn, situated within the grounds of the Crowhurst Manor ruins amongst the rolling hills of the Sussex countryside. There is a private garden and a dedicated car parking space with an electric car charging point (fees apply). Swallows Loft is the ideal place to enjoy the natural beauty throughout the ever changing seasons surrounding a piece of history . The space As you approach Swallows Loft you will be greeted by the imposing ruins of Crowhurst Manor, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The oak barn is located within the extensive grounds of our family home and sits nestled in a private spot with stunning views of the open countryside. The studio is beautifully appointed. Entering the property reveals a ground floor with an elegant bathroom complete with underfloor heating, a small dressing area and stairs rising to the first floor. The first floor boasts a beautiful, well-equipped kitchen and luxurious living and sleeping area with a sumptuous Feather and Black king sized bed, White Company bed linen and Devon Duvets natural wool duvet and pillows. During the winter months The White Company faux fur throw will enhance the cosy feel. The huge fully glazed gable window overlooks the surrounding hills with its ever changing picture reflective of the changing seasons and our small flock of pet sheep can be spotted grazing in the field below. The exceptionally dark skies after sundown makes Crowhurst a stargazers' dream and on a clear night the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights may make an appearance. Directly behind the property is a private, raised York stone patio and garden with seating for dining and relaxing, a Ninja electric BBQ, a parasol for those hotter days and a chiminea for those chillier evenings. The sunset in the evening is absolutely gorgeous to witness in your own private oasis. The 13th Century Grade I Listed St George's Church sits behind this secluded garden, a visit to the 4000 year old yew tree which stands in the grounds is a true sight to behold. The property has Wifi. Please note: the property has sloping ceilings on the first floor. Swallows Loft is situated on a quiet footpath which leads you through the fields to the RSPB Fore Wood Nature Reserve, a Site of Specific Scientific Interest. In Spring you can walk amongst the abundance of bluebells and wild garlic, in Autumn you can witness the rich colours of the changing leaves, in Summer enjoy watching the swallows and in Winter you'll need your wellies! A short walk away is Coombe Valley Nature Reserve which is the perfect place for watching birds enjoying the marshlands; you could also take a longer walk or cycle ride into the seaside town of Bexhill-on-Sea with the De La Warr Pavilion and the newly renovated Victorian bandstand. The mainline station is a short walk from Swallows Loft with trains direct to/from London, Royal Tunbridge Wells and also Hastings. A short drive can take you to the historic town of Battle with its Abbey and Battlefield but also some lovely bistros, restaurants and boutique shops. Hastings offers the funicular railway and seaside entertainment. A stay at Swallows Loft will offer a rural retreat away from busy daily lives whilst enjoying a piece of history. Guest access Guests have access to the area surrounding Swallows Loft, including their own private garden. Crowhurst Manor ruins stands on the boundary of our family garden, full access to the ruins is available upon request when booking.
