The space Cortes Beach House is a fully equipped, two bedroom home located in Mansons Lagoon. The beachfront house has fresh linens, clean relaxing furniture with many of the amenities required for a comfortable stay. Doors open to a inviting deck overlooking the lagoon. The tidal flow is exquisite to watch. Once a day the bay empties exposing the ocean floor. This is a great time to take a long walk, explore the tide pools and collect dinner. If you enjoy swimming we strongly recommend "riding the tide" from the Spit located at the opening of the lagoon. In the winter months the low tides are at night and the star gazing is quite magical from the beach. Guest access The Beach House is located on the south end of Cortes Island. It is a 5 minute drive from Hague Lake and "Downtown" Mansons and 10 minute drive to HollyHock Other things to note The Cortes Beach House was built in Refuge Cove as a float house in the early 1900's. It has been updated over the years but still has much of its original charm. Please be aware that its an island home with a island driveway. The path to the house is about 200ft from the parking space. luggage has to be carried or pushed in the wheelbarrow. This hasn't been a big issue for most guests but its good to be aware before you arrive. If you've come to the island to harvest clams and oysters the beach house is the perfect place to do so. We are happy to teach our guests how to dig clams and shuck an oyster. In the winter the tide is out during the night which makes harvesting seafood extra fun. Some things to consider before you book. This is a beautiful property on a remote island. It can be quite the journey to get here. Two ferries from Vancouver island which sometimes results in long wait times and storms that shut the ferry down. Power outages are very common and in the winter expect lots of rain and some mud. To heat the cabin a wood stove is required. Be ready to carry wood and potentially chop firewood. And to top it all of the wifi is absolutely not reliable. But that’s how you live in paradise 😉 Registration Details Provincial registration number: H368788009
