Come enjoy the north woods at Loon Landing, our cozy, historic and rustic vacation cabin. At just 450 square feet, Loon Landing offers two small bedrooms, a small kitchen and a bathroom. Here's your chance to try small home living! Listen to the call of the loons on the nearby lake, where you will find a small beach. Loon Landing is the ideal base for Sleeping Bear Dunes, Interlochen Arts Academy, TC and all of the NW Michigan attractions. Blue Bridge event center is just a short drive away. !!!!!Airbnb has incorrectly put Loon Landing into a Lake and Lakefront Category. It is just a short walk to the beach and we do have a lakeview. We DO NOT have lakefront property!!!! ***COVID Precautions We have always taken extra steps like changing mattress pads and blankets between guests and wiping down high-touch surfaces with disinfectant. Additionally, if you will only need one bed, please let us know when booking if you plan on using the double or queen bed. We don't make up the beds that are not used just to be sure that they are absolutely fresh for the next guests. Of course, both rooms are available for storage and use. *** *****When you request to book, please answer the question about what Loon Landing was used as in the past. WE WILL NOT CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION UNLESS YOU HAVE CORRECTLY ANSWERED THE QUESTION. If you are new to Airbnb, please introduce yourselves.****** Please Note: Because this is our family cottage, we take health precautions for ourselves and others seriously. Absolutely no smoking and no animals are permitted, something that anybody with allergies especially appreciates. -Kitchen includes pots, pans, pizza pan, dishes, silverware, coffee maker, range, refrigerator, microwave and cooking utensils. The kitchen does accommodate light cooking. -Loon Landing has no frontage on the lake and access to the lake must be through community access. Please respect the neighbors' properties. A map with directions to the beach is posted on the front door. -There is a small deck and also a fire pit. We do have BBQ utensils. Please do not burn if the DNR has burn warnings on its site or if there are Red Flag or low air quality alerts. Please use care when using the wood burner. -Please understand how small 450 square feet is. It's approximately the size of a 2-car garage. This could be your chance to try out tiny house living! More About Loon Landing -Recently remodeled, cozy 450 sq. ft. historic cottage with lake views. -Community access to beach a few hundred feet away. -Loon Landing is one of the original cottages in the neighborhood. It has some quirks like unlevel and creaky floors. -Nearby are Interlochen Center for the Arts, Lost Lake trails and Blue Bridge Events Center. People rank Lake Dubonnet as a great place for kayaking. It's easy to launch a kayak on nearby Cedar Hedge Lake as well. Interlochen State Park is also easy to reach. -It's a short drive to Leelanau Peninsula, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Frankfort/Crystal Lake, Old Mission Peninsula, Traverse City. Loon Landing is also a perfect base for day trips to Mackinac Island, Petoskey, Charlevoix and more. -Wildlife seen: Swans, Fox, Ducks, Geese, Turtles, Woodpecker and Common Loon. -Easy to reach many trails, parks, forests, ski resorts, lakes, vineyards, etc. The lot is marked off with some landscape timbers in the front. Please do NOT cross into the neighbor's yard where the blue garage is. We are nearby and can respond rapidly if additional assistance is required. The surrounding area has a variety of homes, including stick-built, manufactured, old cottages and even trailers. The roads are quiet and secluded. As noted above, if you don't answer this question, we assume that you haven't read all about Loon Landing. Requesting a booking confirms that you understand and will abide by the following conditions: -This is a SMALL cabin (as noted in the description) in the woods. The yard is mostly natural and not manicured at all. There are leaves and sticks in the yard. -This is NOT a lakefront property, but does have a view of the lake and access to a very small beach just down the road from Loon Landing. Especially during the pandemic, we highly recommend that you consider washing them before you first use them. • If you have any problems or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We want you to have a comfortable stay. • If something is broken or not functioning properly, please let us know. • Instructions for internet access and operating the heating/cooling system are found in the guest book.
