With careful attention to detail in textures and finishes, The Croft is positioned to leave you feeling refreshed and enveloped in nature. Complete your sensory experience as you bask under dark skies in the woodfired hot tub. Simply magic! The space The architecturally designed cabin adjusts perfectly to accommodate singles, couples or a family and is set in quiet bushland on the outskirts of Richmond 30 minutes from Hobart in southern Tasmania. Arden is part family farm consisting mainly of sheep and chickens and part preservation of Tasmanian bush. The Croft is exquisitely appointed. The design, craftsmanship and interiors draw the built and natural environments together. The Blue Gum cladding is felled from the property. The glass frontage draws in natural light and warmth in abundance and the generous deck leads to the woodfired hot tub & fire pit. The primary pavilion consists of a separate main bedroom with king bed, open plan living, kitchen and bathroom. The second bedroom is linked via the atrium-style entrance. Cooking at The Croft, there is a Weber bbq, induction stove top and, for those willing, a fire for cooking, but no oven or microwave. The bbq can be used with indirect heat and function as a convection oven (instructions provided). If you are self-catering, please keep this in mind. Rejuvenate in the private and natural surrounds, soaking in your woodfired hot tub. Guests can wine, dine and explore the sights of Richmond or visit one of the many wineries in the Coal River Valley wine region. The vibrant waterfront city of Hobart and the world renowned MONA (art museum) are nearby. The convict site and World Heritage Property of Port Arthur, Eaglehawk Neck and the beautiful beaches of Orford make for easy day trips. The Peppermint and Blue Gums provide habitat to many native animals and birds. A wedge-tailed eagle’s nest is home to two majestic eagles and from time to time, their chicks. Echidnas, spotted quolls, possums, kookaburras, ducks and blue tongued lizards are common sights. Wallabies are everywhere at dusk and you may occasionally spot a wombat or Tasmanian Devil. Breakfast provisions are provided free of charge, including local sourdough, eggs from Arden’s free ranging chickens, muesli, milk, butter and homemade jam and relish. There are also jars of pasta and flour (for whipping up some pikelets). The pantry is well stocked with Tasmanian produce, a selection of meals and alcoholic beverages. These are available for purchase at reasonable cost. Experience: The Croft encourages stillness and peace from busy lives. This luxury retreat offers the opportunity for whatever experience you wish to create. You may like to lounge in bed where your block out blinds ensure you are not up with the sun if you don’t want to be. Soak up the outdoors with a glass of wine in the wood fired hot tub or cooking on the outdoor fire place. Immerse yourself in a bubble bath or curl up in the window nook with a good book. Explore the wide open spaces within a natural bush setting. Families with children will love toasting marshmallows on the outdoor fire or grabbing a torch to go spotlighting at dusk. Play a game of cards or scrabble or enjoy the outdoor game of Finska. Nearby Richmond offers an enticing selection of cafes and bakery, ice creamery and local pub. You can spend hours browsing the antique shops, boutiques and craft along with The Maze and ‘Pooseum’. The IGA grocery store is well stocked and is open seven days. The surrounding region offers a growing number of cellar doors – our favourites are Frogmore Creek, Pooley’s Wines and family friendly Puddleduck. Stopping off at Coal River Farm for award winning cheese and chocolate is a must! Arden is five minutes from Richmond, 20 minutes from Hobart Airport and 30 minutes from both Hobart and MONA. Guest access The entire cabin is for your exclusive use to enjoy. The surrounding bush land is yours to share with local wildlife. Complete privacy is assured. Other things to note WIFI: There is no wifi connection at The Croft. You are coming to relax! There is reasonable phone reception on the Telstra network, but don’t try to zoom into those work meetings.
