Drying rack available (and in the winter months also a dryer) The village of Carnoët (department Côtes d'Armor) is located in the green heart of Brittany and is very suitable for day trips to all sights and attractions. Within walking distance is the Vallée des Saints (Valley of the Saints). In 2008, a sculptor collective started this with the result: a huge collection of granite statues of Breton saints placed on a feudal hill with beautiful views over the valley. The statues are around four meters high, and new statues are added every year. A must-see! From June to September, you can see the sculptors at work. A very large well-known lake is Lac du Guerledan (40 min) with many banks, beaches and water sports centers for kayaking and sailing and water skiing. Also very suitable for hikers. The nearest coast with various beaches is a short 45-minute drive away. (37 km) Among others, Plage du Moulin de la Rive, a quiet sandy beach with free parking and picnic tables. And Loquirec is also nice with a white sandy beach. But there are many more! For day trips, think of cities and places like Brest, Quimper, Concarneau, Saint-Malo, Vannes, Morlaix, Ploumanac'h (pink granite coast), Lorient, Roscoff etc. There is a nice picnic basket for you with supplies. If you have electric bicycles: it is beautiful cycling (and hiking) here in the Breton hills! The quiet village (4 min walk) has a pancake restaurant and a small supermarket (with all basic products, fresh baguette, vegetables and fruits). Charging point for electric cars is 5 minutes' walking distance in the village at the mairie. A 15-minute drive will take you to everything in Carhaix and Callac. Here there are plenty of shops and large supermarkets. Every year in July, Carhaix hosts one of Europe's biggest music festivals (Les Vieilles Charrues) with a variety of international artists. Carhaix has a number of restaurants that are our favorites: pizzeria La Scala and La Rotonde (always make a reservation!) Callac: Cafe de la Place (delicious 3-course menus under 20 euros). And during the day, delicious pastries with Colombian coffee at Rendez-vous café Fredonia. In Callac, there is a large fruit and vegetable market every Wednesday morning. Guest access Unfortunately, the cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the threshold at the front door and stairs to the first (bedroom) floor. Other things to note Charging point for electric cars within 5 minutes' walking distance at the town hall. We respect your privacy and expect the same from you. We do not charge any additional cleaning fees. However, we kindly ask you to leave the gite reasonably clean and tidy upon departure, for which we thank you.
