Two of the bedrooms have freestanding baths right in the room, looking out over the gardens — a detail that tends to get mentioned in reviews. The Loft is our newest bedroom, a king-size suite with freestanding bath and separate shower. Bedroom 1 has a Victorian-style suite with a separate walk-in shower. The two triple rooms can be configured as super-kings if you prefer. Downstairs, the kitchen is the heart of the house. Big, well-equipped, with a ceramic hob, central island, and glimpses of Lake Windermere on a clear day. It's where lazy breakfasts happen and where everyone ends up at the end of the night. The dining room seats 18 around a large rustic table. The lounge has leather Chesterfield sofas for 16, a wood-burning stove, and a large Smart TV. There's a snug off the kitchen for anyone who needs a quieter moment away from the group. And then there's Josiah Brown's. Your very own private bar, named after one of the original owners from the 1670s. Bring your own drinks, ring first orders, and let the night take care of itself. It's the room that makes this house — and why hen and stag nights tend to find their way here. Outside, there's a large verandah-covered patio with seating for 18, a BBQ, and over two acres of private grounds — plenty of space for the kids to run wild. Direct footpath access to the Orrest Head walk starts at the back of the house. One of Wainwright's favourite routes. The summit takes around 20 minutes and the views are extraordinary. Windermere village is a short stroll downhill — cafés, pubs, restaurants, and Booths supermarket all within easy reach. We have parking for up to 15 cars and a fast EV charger on site. Up to 4 dogs are very welcome. Need a little more space? Orrest Head Cottage sits in the grounds behind the house — also ours — and can be added to your booking to sleep up to 20 guests in total. Please note: The Loft our 6th bedroom, was added to our listing at the end of April 2026. If you booked before then it is available at an extra cost. If you booked after that we increased our costs to include it so it's yours to use in the package. Guest access The whole house is yours. Other things to note We allow parties at Orrest Head House but guest numbers are limited to those staying at the property (including Orrest Head Cottage if booking together).
