Delightful Country Cottage

Inviting 2-bedroom property nestled in Lesser Barlow, Derbyshire. On the doorstep of the Peak district, this is a wonderful base to explore, visit Chatsworth and experience local restaurants. It is close to the amenities of Sheffield and Chesterfield but its rural location allows tranquility. Spacious bedrooms, well-appointed interiors & a welcoming ambiance creates a perfect retreat. Two acres of garden with a large fenced & gated pond are on offer to be explored. We welcome children & pets. The space Thank you for your interest in Our Cottage. This luxury, cottage is located within the grounds of our 16th &17th Century Grade II listed country house. The accommodation is separate to the main house which we live in with our family. You will have your own entrance and there is plenty of space outside to share. The garden is huge with countryside views, a very pretty stream and gated, fenced pond with jetty. The large grassy area is just round from your front door and has a sheltered patio, perfect for al fresco dining and an evening drink. We have our own outside dining space, meaning you will often have the garden of over two acres to use for yourselves. If you have kids, the trampoline and climbing frame are there to be enjoyed too - although our girls will also be making use of them. They are very good at sharing. The accommodation comprises an open plan kitchen, diner and living area, 2 bedrooms, small bathroom and a further versatile ground floor room that can be used as an office, store room for bikes or further bedroom if necessary. We can also pop some toys in here for kids if this would be useful. The kitchen is small but fully equipped and the colour is a talking point! There is an electric oven, washing machine and dishwasher. A farmhouse table comfortably seats four people plus high chair as applicable. The living area is snug but includes a 3-seater sofa, wood burning stove, extra chair and a dresser full of games and books. There is a large TV and high speed 150mbps internet. We will provide you with a basket of wood that can be refilled for the woodburner so that in the cooler months you can snuggle up in front of a real fire in the evenings. The property has electric central heating too. The master bedroom is spacious and classically decorated with a window overlooking the garden. The super kingsize bed, you will feel very comfortable. The second room has been set up with kids in mind. Stacked with story books and cosy beds, your little ones will stay snug. This can also be converted to a double room on request. A travel cot can be provided by request. If There is also the option of a pull-out single bed also by request for additional cost. Location-wise, we’re in a great spot. We are in a very tranquil rural setting with plenty of public footpaths at the door. You can walk to Linacre reservoir from the house as well as plenty of local round walks which have pubs on the way. There are numerous fantastic bike trails and lots of recommended teashops and cafes, country pubs, restaurants and bistros serving great food, galleries and farmshops nearby. Off road parking. We’re fifteen minutes from Chatsworth, 20 minutes from Bakewell. 25 minutes from Sheffield and 15 minutes from Chesterfield. The Peak District is on the doorstep. There are tons of climbing, cycling, hiking, running and wild swimming locations all around. We also have an extensive list of things to do with kids from outdoor trails to farm parks to the dreaded indoor play on a wet desperate day! We are dog friendly; your four-legged companions are very welcome here and we’re confident they will love the space and the area. There are countless walks and trails that are dog-friendly too, as is our local pub. It’s worth pointing out that our garden is not securely enclosed - it has a pond (although fenced), small stream and is surrounded by open countryside. If your children or dogs like to explore you may want to be particularly vigilant. Also, please consider that the pond area is to be entered only with supervising adult and at your own risk. It must be locked after use to ensure the safety of our own children. There is also a small stream that feeds the pond and exits at the bottom, please monitor children around this area. There is a “rustic” barn gym available for use at the property if you wish. There is squat rack with weights, bar and bench as well as a limited selection of kettlebells and dumbbells available for use. Please note we accept no liability for injury and you must be of suitable health and fitness to use this equipment. Guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their children while using the gym equipment and no children should be left unattended in the barn please. If needed, a 22kwh car charger is on the site. There is an option to use this, for an appropriate charge. Guest access You have access to the cottage, pond and garden.
