Gite Gwenn ha du

Gwenn Ha Du, the Breton flag, was created in 1925 by Breton activist Morvan Marchal. Today, the Gwenn Ha Du is the undisputed symbol of Brittany. It features 9 alternating black and white stripes, accompanied by a checkerboard pattern of ermine. It symbolizes nine countries, nine bishoprics. Black for the Gallo countries: Rennais, Nantais, Dolois, Malouin, Penthièvre and white for the Breton countries: Léon, Trégor, Cornouaille, Vannetais. It's a flag synonymous with diversity and unity.
