Laurel Mountain Getaway - Located in the Laurel Mountain Division Guest access Guests have full access of the house except the basement. If you would like access to the lower level reach out to us about booking the whole house which includes another master bedroom and bath. Another bedroom with 4 beds and another bathroom. Also a full kitchen, living room, smart tv, and ping pong table. A total of 7 more beds and 2 more bathrooms. The land and creek around the house are all included with the stay! Other things to note Things that I highly recommend visiting in the area... Galax has shopping, restaurants, Walmart and a very cute little downtown with coffee shops. The New River trail is also located here and is great for walking or riding bikes. Restaurants that are a great stop in Galax are “The Briar Patch, Creek Bottom Brewery, & Tlequepaque Mexican Restaurant. Downtown has some neat little stores like Chapters Book Store, The Graceful Goose and the Primitive Peddler. The Blue Ridge Parkway is located 15 miles from Laurel Mountain. All along the Blue Ridge Parkway there’s all kinds of hiking trails overlooks, etc. Along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Meadows of Dan is Mabry mill. It is highly worth the drive. Mount Airy: 40 minutes south. The home of Andy Griffith. Has many museums and sight seeing: The diner that Andy Griffith use to eat in on the show is still there. There is also lots of shopping and restaurants. Fries, Virginia: Old coal miners town. Has a gorgeous river that runs through it the new river with a dam and it is great for kayaking or canoeing you can also rent kayaks from there and the new river trail also will connect there as well. Grayson Highlands State Park: North west of Galax. Beautiful mountain views the Appalachian trail runs right through it. There’s a good possibility that you will be able to see the wild horses that are there Foster Falls State Park. Its a great place to Swim, Wade, Kayak, Tube or Fish. Or to just simply have a picnic.
