The space The Chandler's Apartment is part of the Carriage House property. The main floor, offers four lovely, nautically inspired private guest rooms, reserved separately, and the second floor is the charming Chandler's Apartment which accommodates four guests nicely. If you are booking a stay in a larger group, the Carriage House can accommodate up to 14 guests between the apartment and private guest rooms. You can book the apartment alone, the whole Carriage House, or a combination that fits your needs. Each part of the Carriage House property brings out Mystic's seafaring heritage~ from the antiques, nautical curiosities, and room themes, to the unique murals by Susan Leach. The history buff in you will love the them and whimsey of the Carriage House property! Old Mystic, the "original Mystic," was a regular stopping point for stagecoaches on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, former Secretary of State Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink at the Williams Home property, our adjacent home, on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! It is said that George Washington slept in the house across the street and Abraham Lincoln may have spent time in the house next door! If only these wonderful home can whisper tales of the past~ what would they say! LOCATION The Carriage House sets back from Main Street in the hamlet of Old Mystic near the head of the Mystic River. The Carriage House is a short 5-minute ride to the Mystic Seaport, shops, and restaurants, where you can indulge in Mystic River and Mystic Seaport history. Walk or bike on the scenic River Rd just around the corner from the Chandlery Apartment. Haley's Way Playground and field are located behind the property- a great place to bring the kids to play. LIVING, DINING, & COOKING Cozy living room, dining, and kitchen area and a 43” Samsung Smart TV with a Roku streaming stick and 4K Streaming Media Player, perfect for cozy movie nights! . A dining table to seat four guests for entertaining and playing board games. The fully equipped kitchen is simple but amply stocked for days and evenings when you choose to stay in~ brand new appliances throughout~ be one of the first guests to experience them :-) SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The Chandlery Apartment offers two guest bedrooms with new Casper memory foam mattresses, fresh pillows, beautiful linens, beautifully made comfy beds, alarm clocks with sleep sounds, USB charger ports, plenty of soft fluffy towels, and complimentary toiletries, so you can pack lighter. Bedroom 1: Queen-size bed with dresser, comfy wingback chair, and a closet for storage. Bedroom 2: Full-size bed with 4-poster frame, dresser, and a closet for storage. A shared full bathroom with shower/tub (great water pressure:) OUTDOOR SPACE Chill out in the shared backyard furnished with 6 Adirondack chairs and two hammocks. There is a firepit (a bundle of firewood provided) The backyard and off-street parking are shared with guests in the 1st floor private guest rooms. FAMILIES At the Chandlery Apartment, we love to welcome children too. You’ll find a high chair, pack-n-play, baby tub for little guests, and plenty of board games and books to keep younger (and older:) guests occupied. We do not allow doggies in the Chandler's Apartment~ thank you for your understanding. ______________________________________________________ LARGER GROUPS? In addition to the Carriage House apartment and four charming 1st-floor private guest rooms, which can accommodate up to 14 guests, we have two adjacent properties in Old Mystic for larger group gatherings. The 1784 Denison Home property, an antique center colonial historic gem, can accommodate ten guests and is adjacent to the Carriage House property~ a perfect set up for family reunions, wedding guests, or special occasions as we can accommodate up to 24 guests. Our other Old Mystic adjacent property, the Williams Home & Smith Cottage, can accommodate an additional 14 guests. The Williams Home, an antique center colonial, accommodates up to 10 guests and the Smith Cottage, a separate guesthouse on the Williams Home property, accommodates up to 4 guests. We can accommodate 36-38 guests in the three adjacent properties. Reserving any combination of these nautically-themed New England homes will offer you flexibility and a unique stay unlike anything else in Mystic. The exterior entry leads to a hallway to the second floor stairwell to your Chandler's Apartment. Please park in front of the blue Carriage House, not in our parking behind the red house. Check-out is at 11:00 AM Other things to note The Carriage House, once an annex to the Old Mystic Inn, uniquely offers a 2 BR apartment on the 2nd floor (this listing) and four individual private guest rooms with private baths and entrances on the first floor~ the private 1st floor guest rooms are reserved separately or you can reserve the whole property~ let us help with your needs! The Carriage House property guests share parking and the yard. You may see a dog as our Salty Sailor Room is dog-friendly. Please be courteous of other guests staying.
