Cabin in Smallwood
Description
Catskills Cutie in the heart Bethel Woods village Forest Reserve in the hamlet of Smallwood. 5.5 miles from the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts music venue where Woodstock took place in 1969. You’ll find hiking, biking trails, horseback riding, waterfalls, 5 lakes, 2 large fenced in dog fields, plenty of spots to sit back, relax and decompress from city life. I’ve put a lot of love into this cabin and will continue to add to that. It’s very beautiful, unique & peaceful here. Stay awhile. The space My cabin is small in stature but big in personality and the best use of a small space. I do want to set your expectations for a certain level of rustic. It’s a cabin in the woods. I do my best but it’s not a hotel. It’s more like staying at a friend’s home (please treat it that way). It is an open living space concept of kitchen, living area with queen bed, couch and stone fireplace. I have one small bedroom with bunk beds and a heavy curtain for privacy. Small bathroom shower only. There is a four season back porch which accommodates dining, writing and music areas (I have a keyboard, little Martin guitar, microphone, amp and a tambourine.) and a large twin daybed for another sleeping area. There is a large deck out front with a picnic table, Adirondack rocking chairs, BBQ grill and string lights. The front deck is so nice as you’re essentially living in the trees since it’s up one flight of stairs. I have a fire pit in the backyard with 4 bright red modern Adirondack chairs, another BBQ grill and more string lights. The backyard is quite large, it goes out to the main road in the neighborhood. You’re in walking distance to the neighborhood waterfalls, hiking trails, lake and fenced in dog parks. I have pretty much anything you would need regarding kitchen items. The cabin has central heating with 2 Google nest system thermostats. There is one new AC window unit and a ceiling fan (both with remote controls) which is all you would ever need in this cabin as it just doesn’t get that hot up here. My place can accommodate 4 people if you don’t mind not having privacy as there is a queen bed, bunk bed, twin daybed and a couch. 2 adults only for privacy loving folks. For a family I would say it’s fine for 2 adults and 2 children. History: The cabin was built in 1940. When I bought it in June 2023, it looked nothing like what you see today but I saw the potential. I have tried to maximize the use of a small space making it a welcoming haven for guests and myself to have a getaway. In America a red front door holds the historical significance of meaning people are welcome at the homes that host a painted door. Travellers were welcome to rest and have a meal. All are welcome here. 🌈 ☮️ 🐶 *Note: There are 2 fire extinguishers and a first aid kit in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Under upper kitchen cabinets you will find round lights you can tap for some extra under counter light. *Note: There are cameras on the outside of the cabin front & back. They came with the house when I bought it. They are not in use. I do however have Ring cameras on the front and back exterior doors. Guest access Shared parking in front driveway. Your spot is on the left at the “Catskills Cutie” parking sign. You have the entire cabin to yourself, front deck, fire pit & back yard that goes back about an acre to another road. Right parking sign “The Betty” is for me. I live in the 1976 Argosy Airstream next door on the right side lot of the cabin. You may or may not see me during your stay. I do work a lot. But if you need anything at all I cannot solve online, I will come help you. Other things to note Coffee ☕️ you like it? I love it. I have a pour over Chemex with natural filters, French press, espresso machine, bean grinder, milk frother, cinnamon, Cuisinart 10 cup coffeemaker and lastly a one cup Keurig pod coffeemaker. There are many types of coffee beans & tea here at the moment but feel free to bring your favorite beans. 🫘 The best way to enjoy is on the deck, kicked back listening to nature and taking it all in.
