The space The Beckmann a one-bedroom apartment on the second floor, and accessible only by stairs. The bedroom sleeps up to two, with a top-quality Queen-sized bed. The kitchen has a microwave, gas range, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots & pans. The apartment has high-speed internet, and a smart TV with an antenna for local stations. Linens and towels are included. Yes, there is a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. A laundromat is available in the basement. Before your arrival, the Beckmann will be stocked with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast foods to start your stay. You'll also find a range of cleaning supplies and complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-Tips, etc.). To keep our rates low, we don't replenish these items during your stay. Smoking is prohibited in the apartment and anywhere on the premises. Sorry, while we all love them, we do not allow pets at the Beckmann. Upon making a reservation, you will be notified of SF Shannon House Rules. Creation of a reservation indicates acceptance of SF Shannon policies. PARKING Parking is free and on-street in front of the building. Because Tower Grove Park is across the street, there usually is ample parking available. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION The Beckmann is across the street from magnificent Tower Grove Park, a Victorian gem with more than 8,000 trees and shrubs, historic gates, gazebos and pavilions, a playground and wading pool, and a farmers' market that bustles with activity every Saturday during growing season. Within walking distance is the Missouri Botanical Garden, dozens of outstanding restaurants, as well as markets, coffee houses, and shops. IS IT SAFE? Since all of SF Shannon’s vacation rental apartments are in the historic core of St. Louis, we occasionally receive the question: “Is it safe?” This question is impossible to answer, because we know nothing about the person asking it. The co-owners live within walking distance of each SF Shannon vacation rental. Rachel, Karen and their spouses raised their families in their respective neighborhoods, and have always felt perfectly safe. WHY THAT NAME? The Beckmann is named after the first owners of the Magnolia Arms, the 1920s-era apartment complex in which the Beckmann is located. Guest access The apartment is all yours! There is a shared laundry room in the basement at the end of the building, and the interior stairs and fire escape are shared with other guests and residents. Other things to note The Beckmann has window-unit air conditioning and steam heat from a central boiler that serves the entire building. The window-unit air conditioners are removed in November and re-installed in late March or early April. The radiators that provide heat can be controlled via the knobs on the side of them.
