Inside, vibrant beach tones beckon in the glassed-in porch, living room, and breakfast nook, adorned with original paintings and equipped with a Roku TV. The two cozy bedrooms on the lower cottage level have twin beds and a king sized bed respectively and are linked by a quaint jack and jill bathroom featuring the original claw-foot tub. Indulge your culinary desires in the well-appointed kitchen, stocked with complimentary coffee and breakfast treats. Admire the seamless blend of old-world charm and modern amenities as you move through the cottage, from the classic kitchen to the 1993 addition featuring a spacious dining room and attached playroom (a few steps down) with attached half bath and a large screen tv )with Roku) that can be viewed from both rooms. French doors open onto a delightful outdoor yard, complete with a brick dining area, BBQ, and lush lawn for games like cornhole. The remaining three bedrooms and full bath are located upstairs from the dining room and feature two king bed rooms each with TVs and Rokus, plus a queen bedroom that has a barn door window opening out over the dining room. Upstairs from this level is a rooftop deck with peak-a-boo views of the beach and bay for spectacular sunset watching. Within walking distance, guests can enjoy the beach and dog beach, a natural-foods grocery store, vegan and traditional fast food, coffee shops, restaurants, salons, and an artsy gift shop. Within a short drive or longer walk, guests can visit the extensive Newport Avenue farmers market (on Wednesday nights), shops, beach rentals, restaurants and bars plus the Ocean Beach Pier (temporarily closed). A little further away (within 5-7 miles) visitors can enjoy Sunset Cliffs Nature Park, Cabrillo National Monument, Mission Bay Boardwalk loop, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Point Loma, boat rentals, and Sea World. The cottage is only 3.4 miles from the San Diego Airport but with such access, all of Ocean Beach comes with airplane noise. Planes are only allowed to take off 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and their takeoff path changes throughout the day so airplane noise varies over the cottage. Heading 7 miles out to downtown vicinity, visitors can enjoy the famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park with all of it's museums, gardens, and restaurants. There's also downtown featuring the Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village, Star of India, The Midway, and the New Children's Museum. San Diego Convention Center is also only 7 miles away making this a perfect location for Comic-Con to get beyond the fray but stay only a short Lyft drive away. Coronado Island and the famous Hotel Del are located just south of downtown. Legloand is a 30 minute drive north on Highway 5. The San Diego Zoo's Safari Park is a 34 minute drive to the northeast on Highway 15. Los Angeles (with Disneyland and Universal Studios) can be 2-4 hours away depending upon traffic. Joshua Tree and Palm Springs are also about 3 hours away. The quaint town of Tecate in Baja California is only an hour away, Ensenada on the coast of Baja is only 2 hours away. As the saying goes, in San Diego you can ski and surf in the same day! And at Beach Lotus you can go go go or just sit and relax.
