Cozy Maine home, w/hot tub! One hour to Acadia NP!

Bright and cheery, in the village of Bucksport, Maine on a quiet, dead-end street. Surrounded by gardens blooming all summer, and cozy for off season stays. Private back deck with small hot tub and fenced in back yard. Pet friendly! One hour to Camden, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, & Acadia National Park, 30 minutes or less to Bangor, Belfast, Blue Hill, Castine & Ellsworth. Lakes and ocean nearby for water access, too! The space From the front door, enter into an open floor plan, with dining room and a piano. Dining room table, with one leaf to expand, 4 chairs, and bench seat. The piano bench or 4 folding chairs seat extra. A full kitchen includes an island with gas cook top, wall oven, large fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher - with everything needed to cook a great meal (drip coffee maker, French press, tea kettle, toaster, pots and pans, pantry basics, lots of spices, etc). Filtered water dispenser in fridge - note icemaker does not always work (ice trays are provided). One step down from the kitchen, the living room is bright and open, with cathedral ceiling, and includes a bluetooth stereo system, record player (with a suprisingly large collection of vintage country albums!), a Luna parlor guitar, books for adults and kids, board games, and a 50” ROKU TV for streaming (no cable service). Entry to the back deck/hot tub is from the living room. 2 smaller bedrooms on the first floor, each with a Double bed, share a small bathroom with larger shower stall (with a built in potty seat for small kiddos). One bedroom is more 'kid' oriented, with a bean bag chair for lounging. The second has a small desk and chair. Laundry and cleaning supplies located in mudroom off the kitchen. Upstairs find a primary bedroom with King, a desk that adjusts to sitting or standing for remote work (great WiFi!), and en-suite bathroom with separate small shower stall and large soaking tub (jets do not function on this tub). The second large upstairs bedroom offers a Queen bed, with sitting area (sleeper sofa best for smaller kids) and TV for streaming. All four bedrooms have their own closets and ceiling fans. Graco Pack and Play with bassinet, mattress, and sheets located in closet. A/C located in the living room (wall unit) and all 4 bedrooms (window/floor units) May through Oct. Radiant Floor heat on 1st and 2nd floor keeps the whole house cozy during chilly weather, plus the split level pump warms the living room/1st floor. Off the living room, enjoy the deck with privacy walls, propane grill, and built-in hottub that seats 4 comfortably. A small fully fenced back yard space allows freedom for your pets or children to play. Past the fenced area lies the garden and open yard, backing up to a wooded area. Cornhole game for the backyard, too! Even though you’re close to town, you’ll find lots of birds visiting - we love the cardinals and goldfinches! - and you may catch sight of the local Ospreys as they fish in the river and bay just down the hill. Look for their nest by the bridge as you're leaving Verona Island! We are a pollinator friendly property, and practice organic methods, with no use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Because of this, bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other bugs (including spiders!) are common during the warmer months. Plenty of off street parking. If you don't feel like adventuring to other areas, Bucksport's Main street is a 15 minute walk away, where you can access the pretty Waterfront Walkway with views of Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. The Miles Lane trail system is also very close by for walking or trail running. A grocery store and pharmacy are near, as well as several restaurants and fast food places. There are movies at the sweet little Alamo Theater in town. The Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust's "Wildlands" in Orland offers trails for hiking and biking (10 minute drive). Our favorite swimming spot is the Craig Pond beach, 15 minutes away. Garage and basement not for guest use. There is one exterior camera located on the garage, pointed towards the driveway and not monitored during your stay. For winter bookings - Ice, snow, and bad weather are a part of Maine winters, and sometimes last well into April and early May. We’re understanding if travel plans need to change due to storms. Being close to town, power outages do sometimes occur, but usually is restored quickly, although it isn’t always the case. We will leave a couple snow shovels for your use and have someone who can come shovel, but we may not be able to have someone available DURING or immediately after a storm to shovel. Being close to the main road (which is well maintained), it’s not hard to get a car out of the driveway, but if we get a lot of snow you may need to shovel a bit!
