Waterfront Cottage in Freeport
Located at the quiet end of Flying Point, this waterfront cottage has beautiful eastern views of Casco Bay and its islands. The oldest part of the house, built as a family summer camp in 1940, still has the charm of a historic Maine home. The house has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and sleeps 6. Conveniently located within a couple miles of the LL Bean Paddling Center and Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park. The LL. Bean flagship store and Main Street shopping are only a 10 minute scenic drive away. The space This property is our second home, which we use for part of the year. We love that it has given many families 80+ years of wonderful memories and continues to do that. The house is constantly maintained and has a well stocked kitchen. *Floor plan. First floor: kitchen, living room, full bath, bedroom (queen bed, washer and dryer are in bedroom closet) Second floor: master bedroom (king bed) , second bedroom (2 twin beds), half bath, supply closet. The floating dock is in service approximately May through October and is hauled off during winter and spring months to protect it from severe storms. *Wifi is solid, no issues streaming shows or downloading data. Cell service (we have ATT) is not so impressive. Enabling 'call via Wifi' on your cell fixes that problem - just stay near the house when you are making calls. *If a storm occurs during your stay and the house loses power, the generator will engage automatically. The generator powers the entire house and you will have heat, light and water. *The property is conveniently located within a 30-35 minute drive of Portland, Brunswick and Bath and about 10 minutes from downtown Freeport. It offers gorgeous views of Casco Bay and easy access to amenities. Bird watching is 10/10. Sit on the deck and watch seagulls unearth clams at low tide and crack them on rocks. The LL Bean Paddling Center offers kayak lessons, bay tours for adults and short summer camps for children 7+. Wolfe’s Neck Center also offers kids camps and kayak rentals around high tide. Book those ahead of your trip. Other local attractions range from amazing dining options in Portland, shopping in Freeport, hiking and kayaking at the end of our road. And then there are hundreds of other activities in Southern and Midcoast Maine: quaint towns, antique shops, breweries, farmers markets, historic lighthouses and forts, shaker settlements, ferries to islands, beaches, foraging classes, tours, etc. The informational insta account for the house is @houseonflyingpoint . We are frequently adding relevant photos and information about local activities to it. Guest access Keypad. However, there is a sturdy set of stairs with handrails safely leading guests to the water and dock. If you rent a kayak and explore the islands around the property - please watch the tides. Low tide may expose the bay floor (tides are affected by Moon phases); you will get stuck. When its too low to kayak, bring your mud boots and get some clams.
