Arwel is a cosy cottage near New Quay along Cardigan Bay. Nearby access to sandy beaches, coastal towns and villages and the opportunity to experience some of Britain's best wildlife. (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom) The space Arwel in Nanternis on Cardigan Bay is a traditional stone cottage, full of character and idyllically set just a walk from the stunning coast and beaches. Arwel is packed with original features yet extremely well-equipped for a coastal break. Nanternis a pretty rural hamlet set in a pretty wooded Welsh valley. Sit outside and listen to the stream as it finds its way to the beach nearby. Follow it and it will take you through ancient woods (National Trust owned), via the waterfalls to a gorgeous hidden beach at Cwm Soden - a real hidden gem on your doorstep. You can join the Coastal Path which will take you to Cwmtydu and Llangrannog or head north to the colourful fishing village of New Quay, watching for dolphins and seals en route. Enjoy spectacular wild, unspoilt scenery, stunning sunsets and deserted beaches whichever way you turn and no matter which season you visit. New Quay is just 2 miles away via pretty country lanes, you will find a selection of friendly pubs and restaurants serving excellent food, good beer and wine there. Cwmtydu, with its friendly cafe (seasonal opening) is just 1.5 miles away and the pretty seaside village of Llangrannog 6 miles away has also got a good selection of friendly pubs and beachside cafes to choose from. The area is renowned for its excellent quality local food, fresh fish, great beer and warm friendly welcome. Stock up in the nearby farm shop or local produce market. You can even have a vegetable box delivered to your cottage for your convenience. Alternatively, try one of the award-winning eateries in the area. The choice is yours! ACCOMMODATION Arwel sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms: 2 king size beds. The bedrooms can also accommodate 2 cots (available by prior arrangement) UPSTAIRS Master bedroom: king size bed, bedside lights and tables, chair, double-ended roll-top bath Bedroom 2: king size traditional style curtained ‘box bed’, chair Shower room: shower, wash basin, WC GROUND FLOOR Lounge/dining room: large room with two 2-seater couches, flat screen satellite TV (Sky), DVD player, CD/Radio, iPod docking station, wood burning stove, antique dining table and chairs Kitchen: ceramic top stove, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, breakfast bar OUTSIDE Private main garden sloping up from the back of the cottage, with terraces set to make the most of the afternoon and evening sunshine. The terraces are well furnished including loungers, quality table and chairs, and BBQ. The largest terrace at the top has lovely views across the farmland and hills opposite. Gravelled area directly outside the front stable door, with traditional stone bench to make the most of the morning sunshine. No gate between the front door and the pathway to the road - young children must be supervised in the gardens at all times. Arwel is semi-detached and is approached by three steps (no handrail) and a sloping path. The neighbouring cottage shares access to this pathway in front of the cottage. Private off-road parking for 1 car. Our local taxi company is TAR Cars - You will find a very comprehensive set of maps including AtoZ of Wales, OS Map and our own “Sat Nav Map” in the cottage for your use. We also provide various walking guides and map books. - Free WiFi and wired - We welcome Disabled Guests to our accommodation. If you have any particular queries regarding accessibility, please do not hesitate to contact us for advice prior to booking. We are happy to assist Arrival and car parking: - Available directly outside the cottage - Parking is directly off the minor unclassified road at the front of the cottage. It is possible for 2 cars can be parked there side by side - A short sloping footpath leads to the front door of the cottage - Alternatively there is further off-road parking a few minutes’ walk away Inside: - The cottage is an old building and thus has not been designed with wheelchair use in mind - Ground Floor Lounge/Dining area are all on 1 level with a small step up to the bright and sunny kitchen at the back of the cottage. From the lounge there is a normal staircase (with turn and handrail) to first floor Bedrooms and Shower Room. Stair gates are available at the cottage for both the bottom and top of the staircase. In the main bedroom there is adequate access to both sides of the bed. In the second bedroom access to the bed is only from 1 side. There is 1 step up into the shower. TV has remote control and Teletext and we will do our best to provide large print versions of Cottage information subject to advance notice Outside: - The cottage is approached by three steps (no handrail) and a sloping path. It may be unsuitable for people with limited mobility, please ask for advice if unsure. Directly outside the front stable door is a sunny gravelled area with bench to enjoy the morning sunshine. There is no gate between the front door and the pathway leading to the road so children/dogs must be supervised at all times. The main gardens slope up from the back door of the kitchen. Steps (no handrail) lead up to 2 separate terraces. These may be unsuitable for people with restricted mobility, please ask for advice if unsure. The large terrace at the top of the garden has railings all around with gated access. Other areas of the gardens include a very small wildlife pond, slopes and steps so care must be taken at all times Eco-friendly features: - Renovated using sustainable products eg lime, lime-wash, reclaimed wood etc • as much as possible is purchased locally including furnishings etc • eco switches on heating and hot water supplies • eco cleaning products used and provided such as ecover washing up-liquid, ecover toilet cleaner, recycled toilet papers etc • full recycling and composting facilities • all firewood from a sustainable source
