Welcome to Miller Island located on beautiful Burntside Lake. This property offers a 12 acre private island for rent. The 3 bedroom/2 bath house w/ loft offers sleeping for up to 8. The property has 2 docks for up to 4 boats. A boat is required to get to the property. (Boat not included) Master bedroom has a king size bed w/ en suite bathroom with tub and washer/dryer. A golf cart (If available) is included for moving items to/from the docks. Feel free to reach each out with any questions. The space Burntside Lake is a 7,139-acre lake, located 3 miles northwest of Ely, Minnesota, in Saint Louis County, Minnesota. Its western boundary adjoins the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on Tamarack Creek. Native fish include Bluegill, Golden Shiner, Green Sunfish, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Rainbow Smelt, Rock Bass, Shorthead Redhorse, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch. On its shores are two historic resorts with original hand-scribed log cabins, both built in the early 1900s and operating continuously since then: Burntside Lodge (1913) and Camp Van Vac (1918). The YMCA's Camp Widjiwagan is also located on the lake's shore. Burntside Lake's more than 100 islands include Beach; Bear; Berry; Blueberry; Brownell; Burnt; Burntside Islands; Gem; Dollar; Evans; Good Dog; Half Dollar; Honeymoon; Indian; Lockhart; Long; Lost Girl; Miller; Oliver; Picnic; Porkchop; Ripple; Snake; State; Sumpter; Waters; and many more. Guest access Since this property is an island coordination between the owner and guests is very important to ensure the guests have an easy stay. Below is some information and there is additional information in the "Other Details" section. Cars - Depending on the number of cars brought on your trip, you will either park at the public landing, or at Camp Van Vac. This needs to be coordinated as Camp Van Vac can have limited parking during prime season. If parking at Camp Van Vac they charge $5/day per vehicle. Boats/Trailers - Guests will either need to bring a boat or rent a boat. If interested in rental boats and pricing, please go look at the website for “Lake View Lodge” in Ely, MN. (Tell them you are staying on Miller Island on Burntside Lake) They provide off-site boat rental (they are on another lake) at various prices depending on the boat you choose. There are other places that rent boats also. They will deliver/pickup the boat at public launch locations. The closest public water launch to the island is on Van Vac Road (not camp Van Vac). They will know which one. It is about a 10 minute boat ride to the island from there. If you are bringing a boat, you can use the public landing and store your trailer there. The area is safe, but I always recommend bringing a trailer hitch lock. Please review the rules for the lake and boats which can be found online. The Department of Natural Resources does post people at the public landings from time to time to check incoming boats for invasive species. Docking - When a trip off Burntside Lake is needed, we have dock space at Camp Van Vac available for guests. Please note that boats are not able to be left at the dock at the public landing. Trash - Trash can be disposed of at Camp Van Vac for $4/bag or at the public waste station which is about 16 miles outside of town. Cost there is about $2/bag. If you have any further questions, please let me know! Other things to note Two kayaks are available for use. Kayaks are included with the rental for stays 6 days and longer. For stays which are shorter than 6 days, the kayaks can be rented for $50/day. The total days of the kayak rental must be equal to the amount of days of the stay, or the number of days left in the stay. For example, if your stay is 5 days and you wish to use them on the first day, the total would be $250. If you would like to use them on day 3 of you stay, the total would be $150.
