Description
Welcome to Casa Tuta — your cozy rustic escape inside Mdina’s ancient walled city. This 300-year-old townhouse is full of charm and authentic stone detail, carefully restored for modern comfort. Perfect for 2–3 guests (max 4) with a bright living area, small outdoor nook, and easy access to the Cathedral and Mesquita Square. Stay inside the Silent City and enjoy a warm local welcome with every stay. The space Casa Tuta is a charming 300-year-old townhouse nestled within the ancient walls of Mdina — Malta’s old capital and one of Europe’s best-preserved walled cities. Located on Triq Mesquita, just steps from Mesquita Square (famous for Game of Thrones) and a minute’s walk from St. Paul’s Cathedral, Casa Tuta offers an authentic Silent City stay where every street feels like an open-air museum. Lovingly restored, Casa Tuta blends timeless stone features with modern comfort. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living and dining area with a large sofa, lounge chair, dining table and workstation, plus books, maps and local tips to help you explore. An antiporta lets in natural light while keeping privacy. A single air-conditioner cools this space — and, thanks to the open layout, the whole property. The well-equipped kitchen includes a microwave, oven, hob, toaster, fridge and kettle, with a small outdoor dining spot for enjoying morning coffee or a glass of wine under the stars. Off the main living area is a cozy double bedroom, plus a small single bedroom with an extra bed and a washing machine — ideal for a third guest. A sofa bed in the living room can sleep a fourth, but the house is most comfortable for three guests. The bathroom has a WC, sink and spacious shower. Please note: the water heater is compact due to the historic layout — allow 20–30 minutes between showers for reheating. Like many classic Mdina homes, thick walls mean mobile signal can be limited — but there’s strong Wi-Fi throughout, so we recommend using online apps for calls and messages. Casa Tuta is your peaceful base to explore the Silent City’s winding streets, historic squares and timeless calm — all within easy walking distance. Guest access Guests have full and exclusive access to the entire property. There are no shared spaces. Other things to note For people that book for a few nights we are happy to prepare a small welcome package with some traditional food and drinks from Malta including a local wine favoured by the locals. Phone signal may be limited due to Mdina’s thick walls — we recommend using Wi-Fi apps for calls and messages. Given space restrictions, a reduced-size water heater had to be installed. Therefore, guests should ideally avoid taking immediate successive showers and wait 20-30 minutes in order for the water heater to re-heat. A slight inconvenience, but necessary given the constrains of renovating such a classic property. An eco-tax of €0.50 per adult per night (max €5 per stay) is collected for each stay, as required by law.
