Guest access The cabin is located approximately 26 miles southwest of Valentine, Nebraska, overlooking Merritt Reservoir and the scenic Snake River Valley. Access is straightforward year-round: Blacktop roads lead all the way to Merritt Dam Road (also blacktop). From Merritt Dam Road, guests will travel a short sand/gravel driveway to reach the home's private paved driveway. The home's paved driveway circles the house and provides convenient access for unloading luggage and supplies. There is ample parking available on the property, including: Attached garage parking Covered carport parking Additional outdoor parking for boats, trailers, and multiple vehicles The property is especially suitable for guests bringing fishing boats, utility trailers, or recreational equipment to enjoy nearby Merritt Reservoir. Property Access There are a few exterior steps required to enter the main level of the home. The loft sleeping/living area is accessed by a ladder, which may not be suitable for young children, guests with mobility limitations, or anyone uncomfortable climbing ladders. Guests should use caution when accessing the loft area. Exploring the Property The cabin sits on approximately 9 private acres, and guests are welcome to explore the surrounding grounds during their stay. While exploring, you may encounter: Sandhills prairie landscapes Native wildlife and birds Scenic overlooks of Merritt Reservoir and the Snake River Valley Beautiful sunrise and sunset viewing areas Please be mindful of uneven ground and natural terrain when walking around the property. Winter visitors should be prepared for changing Nebraska weather conditions. Cell service may vary depending on your carrier and location on the property. We recommend arriving before dark on your first day so you can easily familiarize yourself with the driveway, parking areas, and entry points. Our property is welcoming to both hunters and anglers. If the weather turns unfavorable, our heated garage provides ample space to dry out your boat and gear. Additionally, we have a covered carport, perfect for keeping your boat protected from the rain. The house is conveniently located off Merritt Dam Road, which is fully paved for easy access.
