Located in Holmes County, in the quaint and charming town of Winesburg, Ohio, one of the largest Amish communities in the world. It is within minutes from Berlin, Sugar Creek, Mt. Hope, Millersburg, and Charm. This 19th century Log House, with today's comforts is a historical experience waiting for you to step back two hundred years. The space Approximately 7 miles from the bustling tourist area (Berlin), the Chestnut Barn provides a true picture of Amish life in Holmes County. Surrounded by farms and rolling hills, long walks are a wonderful experience. Although our little town does not even boast a traffic light, you will be just steps away from the Winesburg Park which has a large playground and picnic pavilion. A few steps in the other direction is our historic general store. Not only will you find a deli serving Amish meats and cheeses, our general store also has a carry out which serves a varied menu that includes the area's most popular pizza, roasted chicken, and a full service ice cream shop. Amish restaurants and shops are just a short drive in any direction. Please do not be alarmed about 'Reviews' ... we have just turned this property into a vacation rental. However, you may check our reviews on the The Chestnut Barn our other property next door! We can guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and the historicity of the house. The original beams, logs, and some original floorings beautifully on display inside the home. On the main floor, you will find a large family room with a beautiful stone gas burning fireplace on the one side, and a quaint living room/dining room separated by a long hallway with a stunning staircase going upstairs. Directly behind these rooms is a modern large fully equipped kitchen. The second floor has two large bedrooms. The one with two queen beds and the master bedroom with a queen size adjustable bed. On the third floor are two queen beds and a twin bed. Most of our mattresses are hybrid and new. Outside in the rear, there is a large deck, courtyard and fire pit. At the back of the home is the Chestnut Barn. A three-bedroom Inn which is also listed on Airbnb and VRBO. The two inns can host large groups. Guest access The entire House is available to the guests, except the basement. Entry in and out is through the side door under the porch. Front door is to remain closed at all time. Parking is available either in front of the house on Rt 62 or down in the Park (Public Parking) past the Chestnut Barn on the left. The gravel driveway is dedicated for the Chestnut Barn. Other things to note Winesburg Pizza is across the street from us! They make the best pizza and an amazing roasted and broasted chicken. They also have other food take away or a small sit-in option available. It's also a mom & pop grocery store that has almost anything small and necessary that you might need and might have forgotten to bring along with you. There is a gas station one mile south on 62. A bank and post office only a few blocks away. There is a quaint little coffee shop 'Beacon Cafe' only one block away from us. One other local eating place less than a mile away is the Winesburg Dariette south on 62. Between five and twelve miles in all directions, there is a slew of medium to extra large size restaurants offering all kinds of rich Amish cooking foods!
