Get ready to relax in this quaint one-bedroom private home on Harkers Island. Where once lived, Ms. Hilda Guthrie, the island matchmaker – funny enough, she never got married herself. The cozy home, originally built in the 60s with a couple updates since, is nestled in the heart of the Island. Whether you're unwinding after a day of exploring or enjoying a cool breeze on the porch. This home has a lot of its original character, imperfect floors and doors. But it’s clean and ready for memories! The space You'll be just around the corner from all the local hotspots. Billy's the local grocery store is just a walk or quick golf cart ride away (bring your golf cart with you). Be sure to get some of their fresh cut meats and hot breakfast sausage (our FAVORITE). Also, nearby is the Fish Hook Grill, Seaside Restaurant, and the Shark Island Eats food truck at the end of the island (Some places are only open seasonal). During your stay, be sure to schedule a day and take the ferry to Cape Lookout Lighthouse, see the Shackelford Banks Wild Horses, check out Sand Dollar Island, tour the Island and Small Waterfront of Beaufort, listen to the waves crash on Atlantic Beach, and take a tour of the famous Core Sound Waterfowl Museum. Lastly Don't forget to check out Chadwick Brothers Rentals to take a quick kayak around island and catch the magnificent sunsets. You can always relax at the Harkers Island Beach Access that is located right when get off the bridge onto the Island. The quaint modern southern style decorating greets you at the driveway and is continued throughout the home. The Primary Bedroom suite offers a comfy Queen bed with attached bathroom and walk in shower. The cozy living room hosts a sleeper sofa and mini breakfast nook. The front porch offers rocking chairs to catch a breeze. The kitchen is stocked with all the cookware and dinnerware you'll need to enjoy your stay. The linens and towels are all sanitized with bleach to ensure top quality cleanliness. Pets are an additional non-refundable fee of $99 per stay. Must be house trained. Let us know at booking if you have any pets. Guest access The entire cozy home! Other things to note Beach Options Harkers Island Beach Access - approx 1.5 miles from the house, its right when you get off bridge to the island. It is on the sound. There is free limited parking. Atlantic Beach, NC - This is the coast of NC, where you will pay to park and be on the actual beach. This option is 23 miles away. Plenty of parking. Ferry to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse - THE BEST and MOST FUN option. This is what we do most weekends. You'll drive down to the end of the island (approx 1.5 miles), hop on the large passenger ferry boat (my uncle is one of their captains) and go to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Which offers a sandy beach sound side to hang out, or walk over to the other side and lay by the actual beach. Also, can climb the lighthouse. For the Ferry Option you would need to book in advance and pay the fee (they offer numerous trips to and from during the day)
