Black bears are common in the Smoky Mountains. Be mindful of their presence by securely storing food, trash, and other attractants to prevent unwanted encounters. Always maintain a safe distance, never feed the bears and don’t leave the cabin or car doors open and unattended. Do not leave any food in your vehicles! All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is recommended during winter months or when snow or ice is present on the road.
