It also has a lovely, enclosed garden with stone walls and the addition of a wood burning stove in the lounge makes this the perfect choice whatever season you are choosing to visit this historical market town. Swaffham itself boasts lots of great places to shop, eat and drink, all accessible on foot but venture a little further and you will find so many places to explore that you will be spoilt for choice. There is a lovely walk along the Peddars Way to Castle Acre but however you get there, make time to explore this historical site. Add in Castle Rising, Peckover House, Norwich Castle, the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn and the Houghton, Holkham and Sandringham Estates and you will soon see why so many history buffs head to this part of Norfolk. Nature lovers will find themselves within easy reach of Swaffham Common, Thetford Forrest with its High Lodge and Go Ape, Welney Wetlands and RSPB Snettisham Marshes. There is even a popular Eco Green Centre in Swaffham, which is also the only wind turbine in the UK which visitors can ascend to reach a viewing platform. You can also be in the heart of the stunning Norfolk coastline watching the pretty boats bob on the tide at the picturesque quay in Wells-next-the-Sea.
