Large 1-BR in Monastery w View
Relax at a unique, serene, albeit a bit crumbling, monastery. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE. It is comfortable, clean, and convenient, to be further polished. Designed by famous architect Frederick F. Faris (1870–1927), built to house cloistered Carmelite nuns (1915 to 1974), the building was converted into apt units in the 80s. This 2nd-floor unit looks out to the cloistered courtyard. We are working with State and City to restore this rare historical magnificence. Your stay is part of the effort. The space The property is located on the top of a hill in a premier residential area. Mt. Carmel is a peaceful oasis. It is easy to see past her crumbly edges and enjoy the space's charm and grace, cloistered courtyard, and walled gardens. The view of the sunset is breathtaking. We, with the support of the State and the City, are in the process of restoring it to this rare historical magnificence to its old glory. Living in this apartment (850+/- sq ft) is like living in a huge house (24,000+/- sq ft) with your private entry and your own master suite (bedroom 12x15, full bath, living room, kitchen and closet). At the same time, you have access to the great room, office, back yard with gardens, and courtyard with patio. A washer and dryer are available in the basement. Plenty of parking space in the private driveway. It is minutes away from downtown with many restaurants and activities. It is minutes away from several hospitals. Guest access Guests have access to porches, gardens, courtyard, and office space so long as you are kind and forgiving as we slowly and quietly work to restore Mt. Carmel's beauty. Other things to note The building is beautiful, big and has 12 units. We are in the process of restoring this historical building to its old glory. Some restoration and renovation work is conducted during the day in some of the rooms without interrupting your visit
