The charming hilltop town of Motovun is certainly the most famous and attractive medieval town in Istria and one of the characteristic symbols of the Istrian inland. Exuding traditional Istrian charm and known as a monument town, Motovun offers spectacular views over hills covered with vineyards, hamlets and farmhouses, as well as over the magical Mirna Valley - the longest river in Istria. Traditional local festivities as well as a renowned international film festival are held here, bringing this peaceful town to life. The town is also known for local Teran and Malvazija grapes, olive oil, homemade cheese, prosciutto, grilled meat and of course truffles, all of which can be sampled in restaurants in the numerous villages and towns in the area. There are numerous hiking and cycling trails, one of the most beautiful of which is the historic Parenzana (10 meters from the villa) - an old railroad line where you can experience a unique ride on a tourist train along the historic route.
