The Fort Casey Inn dates back to 1909, with its cottages once serving as quarters for non-commissioned officers at neighboring Fort Casey. Today, the adjacent Fort Casey State Park is one of the prettiest spots on Whidbey Island, with its bunkers and batteries, a lovely lighthouse, driftwood-strewn beaches, and awe-inspiring sunset views of the Olympic Mountains across the water. You can walk to the Coupeville Ferry Dock (which connects to Port Townsend) and drive to the Ebey's Landing Bluff Trail (three miles) and picturesque downtown Coupeville (four miles) in a matter of minutes. This particular two-story home occupies one half of a duplex. As part of the inn, it enjoys access to grills and picnic tables on the grounds. If you're traveling with a group, the meeting space at Garrison Hall is even available for gatherings and retreats. The interior is comfortably furnished in the classic island style. After a day of exploring, you can prepare dinner in the well-equipped kitchen, sit down to eat at the kitchen table, and play cards or board games in the warmth of the living room's gas fireplace.
