Renovated barn w/ garden access

Once used to house animals and tools, La Maisonnette was superbly renovated in 2017 to offer all modern amenities in a charming living space accented by original wood beams and exposed stone walls. The two-story structure includes a living space, kitchen, bathroom, Italian shower and sleeping area. There is a private balcony overlooking the garden and a patio on the ground floor. The garden and terrace are shared with the host. The space On the ground floor is the living area with sofa, easy chair, coffee table and TV. The ground floor kitchen offers an induction stove, oven, dishwasher, micro-wave as well as a small dining table. The WC is located on the ground floor as well. There is a wood-burning stove should you be staying during the cooler months of the year (wood stored in the garden). You'll find an AC/heating unit on the second floor where the king-size bed is located along with an armoir, chest of drawers and second TV. Italian shower and wash basin are located in one corner of the sleeping area, separated by a Chinese room divider. Glass sliding doors open on to your private balcony overlooking the garden, the ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee! Guest access The guesthouse has a private entrance that gives on to a small alleyway. The alleyway is well lit by motion sensor lamps. Guests have private use of an outdoor table and chairs located on the patio. The garden space is shared with the host and her small, friendly dog. The dog is not allowed in La Maisonnette. If ever the guests are uncomfortable with a dog being present in the garden, she will be kept inside the host's home during their stay. Guests are welcome in the garden and are invited to make use of the lounge chairs for sunbathing, reading or to enjoy their evening cocktail. Other things to note You will find in La Maisonnette a library of books, pamphlets and maps as an introduction to the multitude of sites in the region. Prades is located equa-distance between the Mediterranean Sea and the highest peaks of the Pyrénées Mountains. It is the commerical center for surrounding mountain towns and villages. The market occupies the town center each Tuesday morning, nestled under the platane trees. You'll find vendors selling everying from local produce, meets, cheese and wine to pottery and baskets, to mattresses and antiques. Opportunities abound to enjoy hiking, white-water rafting, mountain climbing and biking. Some trail heads are located just a short walk from La Maisonnette! The area has long been recognized for its curative hot springs. Why not enjoy a day of relaxation at one of the spas in the area? Of course, there are hot springs to be found in nature but the location of these sites are more closely guarded by the locals. Located on the historic Santiago de Compostela trail, the area is dotted with historic religious sites such as St. Pierre Church in Prades, Abbey of Saint Michel de Cuxa, the Monastery of Saint Martin de Canigou, the Priory of Marceval, the Priory of Serrabona and many others. History buffs will also be enthralled by the impressive Vauban fortifications in the area: Villefranche-de-Conflent, Fort Libéria, Cova Bastera and Mont Louis. And Cathare country is just a stones throw away where the most impressive sites are to be found: Peyrepertuse, Quéribus and Aguilar. You won't want to miss the wine area surrounding the towns of Maury, Caramany, and Estagel. This can be combined with your discovery of Cathare monuments.
