Surrounded by hundreds of undisturbed acres of forest, this custom-built home offers an idyllic landing pad for nature lovers and adventurers. Explore Vermont's sweeping wilderness with ease with direct walking access to the VAST snowmobile trails, the Boyce Town Forest, and one of the area’s nicest swimming ponds. Burnt Rock trail and the Appalachian Trail system are minutes down the road. Winter recreation abounds. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers find plenty to explore straight off the porch. Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen are only 12 and 10 miles away. A warm and welcoming place to come home to, the house has comfortable radiant heat and is filled with natural light. Timber framing, natural wood finishes, and large windows make the space both cozy and airy. The open kitchen and dining room invite pleasant family-style cooking and relaxing. Calm your mind while enjoying the living room's scenic picture window or head for one of the bedrooms and gaze out at Vermont's seasonal colors. The home’s conveniences include a well-appointed kitchen, radiant heat, cast iron soaking tub, private washer/dryer, Roku TV, and internet. Things to Know Check-in time: 4:00 p.m. Check-out time: 10:00 a.m. All guests shall abide by the good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. The wood stove is not for guest use. The owner of the home is chemically sensitive and requests that guests refrain from using chemical perfumes or colognes while visiting. Organic toiletries and detergents are provided. She is happy to provide a hard-to-find retreat for people with sensitive systems and a love for clean air and spaces and asks that the space be preserved as such. Be aware of the area's wildlife and don't leave food lying around. The woodstove is not for guest use. Vermont Meals and Room Tax Number: MRT-11472019 Guest access The home is equipped with a smart lock on the front door. Enter your access code on the keypad - a green light will flash to confirm it's been accepted. If the light flashes red, the code may have been entered incorrectly; allow 5 seconds for the lock to reset and try again. Once the code is accepted, rotate the deadbolt beneath the keypad away from the door jamb to unlock it, then open the door. When you leave, press the Schlage button on the keypad, rotate the deadbolt toward the door jamb to engage it, and make sure it's fully locked - the lock does not lock automatically. If you need assistance with the smart lock, a video guide is available to walk you through the process. Other things to note The home has continuously running fans on the downstairs and upstairs levels that work as an air exchange system, keeping the home fresh and comfortable. Emergency supplies are available throughout the home: a first aid kit, fire extinguishers, and a fire blanket are in the mudroom closet; battery-operated lanterns are in the kitchen pantry and in each bedroom. In the event of a power outage, flashlight charging lines are in the kitchen pantry, the gas stove can be lit with a lighter from the drawer to the left of it, and gallons of drinking water are stored in the mudroom closet. Snow shovels are also in the mudroom closet. The home is extremely well insulated and will stay warm for several days even if the heat goes out.
