Luxurious and private, Villa Kembang Kertas (Bougainvillea Villa) is a hidden paradise in Bukti village on the North coast of Bali. The space When the first beachfront villas were built in Bukti Village, an architect designed a series of villas along the coastline. He kept this villa for his own, so we like to think it is extra special. Welcome to Villa Kembang Kertas. THE SPACE Villa Kembang Kertas consists of a main villa and a guesthouse. Main Villa The two storey main villa has 5 bedrooms, 3 on the first storey and 2 on the second storey, which will comfortably accommodate 10 pax. On the first storey, the spacious master bedroom features a king sized bed and its own sitting area. It has an en-suite bathroom with double vanity, a freestanding tub, and a separate shower area. The bathroom is connected on the other side to the second bedroom, which has two single beds. Together, these two bedrooms are perfect for a small family. The third bedroom has a queen sized bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower area. There is a modern and clean fully equipped kitchen including a gas barbecue grill. There is also a yard for washing and drying laundry. The living room is spacious, with a sofa and several arm chairs, and an eclectic collection of lamps and lights. There is also an inside dining area for 5. Upstairs, there is a super spacious bedroom, with a luxurious ensuite bathroom complete with rainshower, that takes up the front half the floor. From the king sized bed, wake up to a view of a glorious sunrise and the soothing sound of gentle waves from the balcony overlooking the Bali Sea. There is a bar counter on the balcony perfect for enjoying sunset cocktails. On the other half of the floor, there is a queen sized bed on one side, and on the other side a sitting area with TV and games for your entertainment. Or curl up with a good book in the seated alcove with French bay windows. Guesthouse Next to the main villa, there is a separate guesthouse, for those who might need a little extra peace and quiet, perhaps to work while in paradise. The guesthouse has a king sized bed, en-suite bathroom, and its own sitting area, plus a nook for breakfast or for a dedicated working space. Terrace & Pool But it is outside where our guests spend most of their time. A beautiful front lawn sweeps from the terrace, which features a long dining table for 12 and an inviting lounge area. Choose your favourite relaxation spot to soak in the sun and sea breeze - whether it is on one of our sun loungers, a sun bed, or a genuine hand-woven Yucatan hammock. Coconut trees, mango trees and colourful flowers (including the Bougainvillea or Kembang Kertas, from which the villa gets its name) line the edges of the lawn, beyond which stretches the mesmerizing view of the Bali Sea, stunning throughout the day from sunrise to sunset. At night, look up and gaze at the stars in the endless sky, away from the bright city lights. There are no private beaches in Bali but the black sand beaches of Bukti are peaceful and quiet, and we are fortunate to have a beach right in front of our property. Sometimes you may hear the laughter of children from the village swimming or playing on the beach, or local fishermen going out to sea, but most of the time you will enjoy the serenity that Bukti has come to be known for. As the villa is built above the sea wall, you will have more privacy than at many other villas along the coast. From the beach you can take a boat out to go looking for dolphins, fishing or snorkeling and diving. Or take a dip in our amazing pool, which has a shallow area with jacuzzi, before it plunges 2m deep. You can even do your scuba refresher course right in the pool. Pool lights allow you to take a midnight swim. THE SERVICES Villa Kembang Kertas is our vacation home, and we are delighted to share it with you. It is more home than hotel, designed for comfort, convenience and care. Our housekeeper, Komang is warm and caring, and keeps the villa clean and comfortable. She is onsite 6 days a week between 10am - 6pm with a couple of hours of break in between. Our gardener Arik comes a couple of times a week and also maintains the pool. For food, there are a few warungs within a short walk, that will also deliver to the villa. Check out also the well loved Bukti Bakery and Coffee (BBC) that can make you pizza and cakes with 24 hour notice. Komang is an excellent cook and can prepare delicious meals for you. You will only be charged for the groceries, but we hope that you will show your appreciation in tips if you like her food and service, especially if she stays beyond her regular working hours to cook your dinner. You are welcome to use the kitchen for breakfast, and any other meals. If you plan to spend some time in the kitchen, you should also know that local fruits & vegetables and poultry are easy to get in the village, and you can buy local fish from the fishermen (or try catching your own!), but for choicier cuts of meat or vegetables, and international groceries like gluten free pasta, do plan ahead to pick up at the supermarket in nearby larger towns like Lovina or Singaraja, or even Ubud en route to the villa. Do check with us in advance if you have concerns around dietary restrictions. For the convenience of guests who keep halal/kosher, we have a separate set of crockery, utensils and plates. We ask for your kind understanding to not use the halal/kosher set if you are not observing halal/kosher. Komang can also help you book airport transfers, rental cars, and a wide range of activities such as fishing, snorkeling, Scuba diving, rafting, dolphin watching, as well as tours to discover hidden gems off the beaten track. North Bali is home to several magnificent waterfalls (our favourite are the Tekud Cepung waterfall in a cave and the Aling Aling waterfalls where you can also go cliff jumping) and ancient temples, so we highly encourage you to go out and explore - whether you book a tour or simply a driver and guide. And when you are done for the day, book a relaxing massage or spend some time soaking and swimming at the Air Sanih natural springs. There is a natural cold water spring 3 mins away and hot springs in Banjar, about an hour away. North Bali is a magical part of Bali, still untouched by commercial tourism. Guest access You will have run of the entire villa. Other things to note We can arrange for airport pick-up by drivers from the village for IDR 800,000 one way for a Toyota Avanza. That can usually take 3 adults with their luggage. While you can try to book a taxi or a driver from the airport, the villa is a good 3-4 hours from the airport and local drivers will know their way here and around best. Do ask if you have questions on other options for airport transfer or transfer from anywhere else on Bali island, or for larger groups.
