Description
Stick to yourselves – nude or not – or enjoy the company of 2 highly sociable hosts, 2 teens & a bunch of highly human dogs: in a caravan in the garden of our home in the countryside of Almayate at 2,5km from Costa del Sol's only unspoiled beach, half an hour drive from Málaga: Get the best of 2 worlds: camping + the shared access to all commodities incl. pool, huge terrace overlooking the sea, outside kitchen with bbq, covered dining & billiard table on a plot of 5.000m² full of fruits. The space The camper, completely overgrown and green, is located in the lower part of our garden surrounded by mango and avocado trees directly below our pool terrace. You really are on your own down there - unless one of us happens to drop by to pick fruit, by prior arrangement. Outdoor area: You have your own private gravelled terrace around the camper with a wonderful view over the countryside and the sea, largely protected from view from above. There is a (dining) table, sun loungers and a hammock for chilling out. The brick-built outdoor kitchen is still a bit of a work-in-progress, but fully functional with reasonable water pressure (cold) and two hobs (gas). On the other side of the camper, next to the drawbar, we have built a solar-powered outdoor shower. This means that when the sun isn't beating down on it, i.e. early in the morning or late in the evening, you only have limited hot water. It is located directly below our solar panels, so nobody can watch you showering from above. You can also close the curtain for extra privacy. We have installed solar lights and fairy lights around the camper and the terrace. You can do what you like down there and romp around naked, but out of respect for other guests, please wear something if you want to use the shared areas around the pool - more on this below. Inside: The seating area on the left offers enough space for eating, working and chilling out - and can be converted into another bed if required. The sound system with subwoofer can be controlled via Bluetooth. There are plenty of power sockets and USB charging stations throughout the camper. The kitchen is fully equipped - four hobs (gas), a sink, fridge, and you will find all kinds of kitchen utensils and appliances in the cupboards. The bed on the right is 1.40 metres wide. There is a fan for cooling and a gas stove for heating. You can darken the windows, we have fly screens in front of all of them. We have already pimped the bathroom a bit - plastic out, wood in. Toilet (only for peeing) and washbasin, plus plug for hairdryer or shaver. Current restrictions: Only pee in the camper toilet, the canister has to be changed every few days and new flushing water filled in - depending on how long you're staying, we'll explain the process to you or do it for you. There is a toilet at the top of the pool terrace in the wash house that you can use, but it is a short walk. And as already mentioned, the water in the solar shower is only really warm when the sun is shining on it - it doesn't heat up in the morning, evening or in bad weather. If we have a room available, we can offer you an alternative bath. As a general insight into our Finca Molino: The property is divided into two large, independent houses built into the hillside, in between the pool, pool terrace with outside kitchen, BBQ, roofed terrace and laundry house. All around: pure nature. The upper house is our private castle, our family includes two teenagers, far too many dogs and a handful of chickens - all from the street, except for the kids. The lower house just below the pool terrace is our guest house – we rent it out room by room or as entire unit for up to ten people. Below the guest house is the largest part of the garden with countless fruit trees, and that's where we've put the camper - one day we might build more accommodation here, a wooden house is under construction, maybe we'll put up a yurt at some point, there's enough space without people standing on each other's feet or losing intimacy. All areas around the pool are shared by us and other guests: The terrace has lounge furniture (the dogs' favourite spots), sun loungers and umbrellas. The covered outdoor kitchen is fully equipped, has a dishwasher and a brick barbecue, in the adjoining dining area up to 14 people can gather around the table (it can be converted into a pool table by raising the top). A few steps further up there is a separate seating area for easily ten people, there is also a brick barbecue next to it if someone wants to keep to themselves - or get away from the hustle and bustle to work, there are also power sockets under the benches and the wifi signal is strongest here because it is right next to the router. There is also a small pétanque court around the corner from the outdoor kitchen (balls are of course available). Finally, the wash house right next to the pool has a washing machine and an extra loo. You are always welcome around these areas, but if the guest house is fully booked, we ask you to use your own kitchen, because too many cooks spoil the broth and otherwise it simply gets too crowded. The 5000 m² plot is completely fenced and largely a wild park full of fruit trees (lemons, oranges, grapefruits, figs, lomquats, pomegranates, apples, pears, nectarines, litchis, grapes, guavas, quinces, maracujas, bananas, mangos, avocados… - there is always something to pick). Guest access It’s your holiday home, of course you can have your fling and go wild over the entire finca – enjoy the pool, chill on the terrace, have a BBQ, stroll around the garden, visit the chickens, cuddle the dogs or join us for a drink as you please. Only if the guest house is fully booked, we ask you to use your own kitchen, because too many cooks spoil the broth and otherwise it simply gets too crowded. Other things to note We strongly recommend you rent a car. Even though we are only at 1,5km from town via the direct path, it can be quite an adventurous cross-country hike (depending on how high the weeds grow at the time), and the steep uphill way from town to the finca can be rather unpleasant if you need to carry luggage and groceries. Per car you’ll drive 3,5 km from town on regular roads, only the last bit of the drive to the finca is a rather bumpy dirt track, still it is manageable for any kind of car - be it tiny rentals or large camper vans, so far every vehicle made it up and down without damages, just take it nice and slow. You can safely park your car outside the gate within the white lines marking our parking spots, the road is a dead end, only the neighbours and us use it. From the gate to the guest house along the driveway, it’s about 100 steps uphill, please bear this in mind should you or any of your travel companions have health issues or feel wobbly on their feet, especially as our dogs may find it fun to accompany you up or down the driveway while chasing each other. Upon arrival, we can always pick you up with our quad plus hanger to help you with your luggage and groceries, otherwise you cannot park your car on the premises – we don’t want our dogs to escape or get run over. Had I mentioned that we had dogs? They really cannot be argued away, so it helps to like them. They have hardly any manners and are in fact criminals stealing food and whatever else smells nice to them, they may jump at you to say hi, beg for food if you ever give them anything, always take the best spots on the sunbeds, “chat” with the neighbours’ dogs day and night, and some of them like their dip in the pool. However, they are purely lovely and very close to us and are most likely to leave you alone unless you invite them for cuddles. Please take a moment to let us introduce them to you, don’t leave stuff lying around and simply don’t let them enter the guest house, then your beds and belongings should be safe. Our chickens live in their paradise next to our private house at the top end of the property, so the rooster’s wake-up-call is fairly far away – you’ll get eggs in exchange for your food leftovers and kitchen scraps. Kids are of course very welcome, but please be aware that our home is not child proof. The pool is not fenced and has a deep end, there are plenty of steps around the pool terrace, in fact the entire property has unsecured steep slopes with plants that can be harmful when ingested. But hey, our kids grew up here from the age of one and three, and they are still up and kicking. The pool is approx. 3,50m x 7,00m with brick steps leading into the (non-secured!) non-swimmer-area – ideal for kids to splash about while parents chill next to them with a drink. A couple of steps down the shallow end is 1,20m, the deep end 1,70m. It is open year-round and around the clock. Despite the currently alarming water situation in Spain, you will not encounter inconveniences. We have our own well and are thus not dependent on the suppliers regulating consumption in other places. Of course, we do ask you to make responsible use of our water. Finally, regarding our presence: We are always there for you and happy to help you with anything – but we won’t impose ourselves on you unless we all feel like a wine or something together. We have made our passion to host our main job, maintaining the finca and the other house we rent out is our day-to-day business, so you’ll see us around digging into whatever home improvement may be needed, making all kinds of stuff from our produce, engaging in DIY-projects - or simply enjoying a sundowner with or without friends. Just beware you are not renting a private holiday villa, it is our home, and we’ll be around. Should any of the other rental units be rented during your stay, it is of course possible that people make a night out of socialising on the pool terrace, which is basically the roof of the guest house, and we are afraid to say that as highly sociable hosts we have a strong tendency to encourage such encounters with a little help of music and drinks, which may or may not help somebody’s good night sleep.
